I stopped after meteora, havent listened to them since, i still havent heard minutes to midnight, they started sucking after meteora
I just listened to the album and with the exception of "The Catalyst" and "When They Come for Me" I didn't really like it. I am a huge fan of LP so I will cut them some slack on a couple of the other songs but I was not impressed.
only true fans of lp will like this album, the thing that makes Lp so great is that they love experimenting, they know they thrive at one or two things, buy they aren't afraid to go in a different direction, that takes balls by artists as they are gambling their fame. hybrid theory - nu metal/rock reanimation - rap/rock Meteora - Rapcore Collision Course - Rapcore Minutes to midnight - soft rock, calmer tone A thousand suns - techno, instrumental and thats why i like them so much, i love all types of music, and to see them do what they do, its crazy.
I agree 100% percent with this. Their first two albums remain the best music they've ever made, but their new stuff is.... different. It's worse than before, but it's still not bad to listen to. It's still better than a lot of rock stuff out there right now. Where has rock gone? The songs nowadays are all pop/hip hop collaborations. LP is a good change of pace for me.
I think it's funny how many people don't mention Collision Course in here. I mean, it obviously was a remix album with JayZ, but still... that was awesome. Really, really awesome. And Minutes to Midnight was pretty good. Hands Held High, Leave Out All the Rest, and What I've Done were very good songs. It just didn't quite hit the "I like 80% of these songs" mark that the previous albums hit.
Listening to it now. Liked all of their albums through Minutes to Mindnight, but this one... WTF, LP? WTF? sigh
Ok so imagine our solar system but our days are exactly 1000x brighter, omg can you think of how hot our days would be? like 200 degrees! Lincoln Park are experimenting with our minds via inception and this album is both the kick and the dream, i had a dream.
Upon further review, the best songs: Burning in the Skies (my favorite) Waiting for the End (especially at the end!) The Catalyst (pretty good) The lady likes Blackout (she likes screaming in her music). So, 4 good songs and the rest are average. That's better than a lot of albums out there.
ESPN uses "Iridescent" in their MLB season recap video. It's about to become the song that pops up in my head when I think of the Astros..
rapcore. haha at first I lol'd then I serious'd I havent listened to LP since 2000...maybe, but instrumental you say? might just have to check it out.
I have been a "hater" of Linkin Park. I loved Hybrid Theory, but everything else they did sucks. This album is different. This is something special. I can see why people are comparing it to Dark Side of the Moon and Kid A. IT IS AN ALBUM. It has to be played in full length to appreciate its greatness. To me this is the 2nd best album of the year behind The Suburbs.
Used to only like The Catalyst. Upon further review, "Iridescent" off this album is really, really good. It's just not, well... Linkin Park-ish at all, so it was hard to notice the first time around. "Robot Boy" is pretty decent as well. I've kept reading about all the tracks other people seem to like... Waiting For the End, Blackout... and they're really just not doing anything for me.
