The New York Knicks have claimed guard Jeremy Lin off of waivers, according to league sources.

Lin was released Sunday by the Houston Rockets to make roster room for Houston's signing of Samuel Dalembert.

The Rockets had claimed Lin off waivers after he was released by the Golden State Warriors, who had to let him go to create the requisite salary-cap space for a four-year offer sheet worth nearly $43 million to then-restricted DeAndre Jordan that was matched by the Los Angeles Clippers.

Lin is a Bay Area native who played in 29 games last season as a rookie with the Warriors, becoming the NBA's first Asian-American since 1947.

The Knicks, who last week claimed sharpshooter Steve Novak off waivers, needed another guard after rookie Iman Shumpert suffered a knee injury in New York's Christmas Day win over Boston. New York is also still waiting for the recently signed Baron Davis' back to heal sufficiently to thrust him into the starting lineup.

He'll probably stay on for a few weeks until Iman Shumpert returns

Getting to play with Melo, Amare, and Chandler? I'd say it's a win for Lin.

With Shumpert going down, this was a good pickup for NYK.

NBA journeyman in the making... Hope he gets a chance to prove himself and be on a permanent roster. Always a crowd favorite wherever he goes...

    Talk about upgrading.

Going from a lotto team in Houston to a perennial playoff contender in New York.

    Congrats Lin!

Probably doesn't matter much that it's a perennial playoff contender to someone who is probably on a 10-day contract.

He's better than Douglas. At least he can run an offense and play defense.

nothing from the king yet, but here is one:

Knicks need another rookie for the dirty work. picking up sandwiches and water for the veterans. Waking people up on roadtrips. Carrying bags etc etc..

Lin within 2-3 weeks will be ahead of Douglas. He is the asian Rubio with above avg defensive ability with playmaking ability. He will help Stat games alot.

Any reason why there is a hyphen between each word of this thread title.
