I just saw the headline at Drudge. He called it a tirade. Yup, dedicating a song to someone, without even mentioning Bush's name...what a tirade.

That is probably true but not everyone wanted to hear it or else they wouldn't have gotten upset.

But the point is that the people who came to see her paid money (at least I am assuming that) for a ticket, plus took time out of their lives to drive to see her when they could have been doing other things. Hey, I think that is swell that she thinks that much of Moore, but I don't think that was an appropriate place to announce that. Maybe if she was at a rally for Kerry or some other political activist function, but when SHE is the main performer, why can't she just stick to doing what EVERYONE came to see and that is sing?

And you might say that all of her fans should know about her views on politics, but there might be fans of hers that enjoy her for what she is known for which is singing that completely disagree with her views on politics. I know that I feel that way about REM, but that hasn't stopped me from getting like 5 of their CDs or if they ever came to TN to seeing them in concert.

I guess I can't imagine anyone that I currently like to listen to and would pay money to see them in concert who could announce their support for Bush, and then me feel different about it. People like that, on either side, are a little warped. It'd be akin to me saying that since Schwartzenegger is a Republican, then I don't like Terminator 2 anymore. It's absurd.

I guess I am warped then, but you already knew that.;)

Seriously, we'll have to agree to disagree as I have always felt that if I am going to see someone perform then that is what I paid money to see - not to hear their views on things that can cause controversy like politics or religion.

Resounding, in this instance, is another way of saying loud, fat, and obnoxious. Right tubby ?

So, when you go to The Cure concert, you'll have a big problem if Robert Smith dedicates "Love Song" to John Kerry? Again, dedicates, not goes off on a tirade or long-winded diatribe as some may have you believe.

    Whoa.

Again, simply dedicating a song to someone, not goint off on a tirade or long-winded diatribe will make you leave a concert? I suggest you don't do any research into the political leanings of your favorite bands.

Once again - how hard is it to understand that I paid good hard earned money to hear songs and not be subjected to political motives? Not everyone thinks like RM95 nor do they think like Manny Ramirez - I just don't understand why you keep pushing this issue. I said I disagreed with your view and I don't see anything that you can say that would change my mind.

I believe that that is the same position he is arguing. He doesn't care to know so he doesn't do the research and he doesn't prefer to have it delivered in his face at his expense.

I think this is way overblown. I think she got booed moreso because of a lackluster performance. Sounds like she doesn't give a rip about her fans.

Fine. I don't want everyone to think like me, I just wanted to get confirmation on your opinions. If I were you, however, before I spent money on anything, I'd do some research into how the bands you want to see live conduct their concerts.

Why do you care? Seriously, dude - it ain't your money, it's mine. I doubt that Robert Smith would do something like that, but if he does, then fine. He has a right to do that. Just like I have a right to get up and leave.

This is getting ludicrous and to a point where it is arguing just to be arguing....

When did I say you didn't have a right to do that? I'm just saying I don't understand someone taking advantage of that right. My enjoyment of music is limited to the music I enjoy. If Dave came out and said, "Vote Bush!", my love of his music wouldn't suffer a bit. I just don't understand how anyone who felt strongly enough about a musician or band to pay money to see them would let their opinions about the music they paid to see be swayed by something like a dedication.

That's BS. An artist is an artist, not a jukebox. I consider good live bands to be more theater than just a "band" playing songs. That line of thinking is one reason that we are stuck with bland art and sterile acts. Without true expression and ideas, art does not exist.

    Manny Ramirez ...

Are you a fan of the Rockets ( not rhetorical, I'm not sure) ? Because I think Les Alexander has gone beyond just verbally supporting John Kerry, and has actually donated money to his campaign.
