You pay Lin more (probably with a less guaranteed contract) because Lowry is a cancer and we need to move him no matter what. The only other good PGs, you'd get at that price are vets that would only for the minimum when there is a chance for a ring. Similar as to why you would over pay for Asik, it is a need that wasn't addressed via draft and thems the brakes. I'd take Lin over Lowry at this point, if only because while it doesn't help the playoff chase, if he blows it, he will do it in a way we might get a high draft pick.
Im not sure if your up on your current events but Morey and McHale said numerous times that it was a mistake to let Lin walk. Resigning him doesn't necessarily admit their mistake, but saying it countless times in interviews should do the trick for you guys... oh wait, it doesn't fit your argument... oh crap.
This coming from the guy who said Brooks at $10 mil/year is a better value than CP3 on a max contract?
8 mil is too much to both players, lin and dragic. unfortunately, dragic wants 10 plus. it is out of his mind. lin is a restricted fg. if sign him, you better offer a contract knicks can't match otherwise it is meaningless.
Oh ok so its on record. What point were you making how this makes my post any less on point? They admit it now. There is so much admitting lately in these threads designed to call out others. Too bad its not the ones being called out that have to admit to anything.
He also said a few weeks back that Dragic on a MAX contract is an asset, not a liability. His words exactly. Yep.
Going after Lin depends on his price. If he wants 10M like Dragic, forget it. I dont want to pay Dragic 10M either. I have to assume Lowry is good as gone. If he isnt, then obviously that changes everything. One thing seems certain though. Lowry and Dragic both want to start. The same may not be true of Lin. $$$$$ Lowry 6M Dragic 10M? Lin 8M? I say this cause NY can offer him 6M. And any deal around that number will be matched unless its heavily backloaded (like the Asik offer). Lowry is starting to look better and better to me.
If Lin is a cash cow, that only helps the Rockets because it makes Les that much more willing to pay the luxury tax. It also makes it more reasonable to "over"pay for Lin.
As far as we know Dragic has not signed with anyone at this point. Lin has not accepted a offer sheet from us. SO, that means nothing has happend so far. Save the knee jerk and rush to judgement until after deals are done. I do think Dragic would be a better fit here than Lin (still not sold on him for a full season). He has his issues and is still developing. He is not worth ovr 8 mil a year. I think he is doing right by talking to us first to see where we are with our offer and then going see if he can find better. It's a business.
He's a free agent right now i think too, would love to have him back. He's so quick, one of the quickest if not the quickest in the nba.
What was the point of bringing him in last summer if we were going to cut him for being 4th string pg / unguaranteed contract anyway? What would he have had to do in order to supplant Johnny as the 3rd stringer?
Half the threads I get caught up in are making me feel this way right now. I'm trying not to read any more than absolutely necessary.
By the way it is BS threads like this that continue to divide the community, and incite arguments. Constantly starting threads that are intended to piss off other posters is pretty weak ISH, and hurts the GARM overall. Well done Carl ! DD
