38-40% would be reasonable. But im thinking hes going to be around 42% because Im optimistic. If Lin shoots 38-42% that should increase our wins by 3-5 games easy.

This is Lin's major weakness. I would be thrilled if he could bump his percentage to 36-37%

BTW he's DEFINITELY become the most underrated Rocket on this board (not counting LOFs). I'm excited to see his progression next year.

You also got to look at how they were guarded. While Lin was not our main option, dragic was the number 1 option for the suns. All eyes were on dragic and that's not the type of player he is. He is a great starter and not a star or superstar. Stats can be misleading.

Lin shot horribly for the shots he got. (Wide open 3s) while dragic shot well but not great for the 3s he had to take.

Also look at both squads, harden was forcing defenders to move away from other players on our team and we ran up and down the court leading to more fast break 3s (open 3s) and Layups. Suns didnt even have a decent head coach.

I don't get the ones who think Lin shooting around 38% from 3's is a stretch...he shot that % for the last 3 months of the season. Now w/ a full offseason to practice shooting even more? I think he settles around 39-40%.

Is 78% on threes supposed to be compliment now? Check out videos of Ray Allen, Mike Miller or other guards and you will see they hit 90-95% of their threes in practice, some may even higher. They are uncontested and you should be able to miss just a few. Now I can't do it, but 78% does not impress me for an NBA player at all.

Guy that shoot 42%+ shoot like 90% in practice. That being said Ill go with 36.8 for Lin next year.

They'll fit right in as bandwagon fans.

    I predict 36%.

    Rule of thumb generally is shooting-drill-FG% / 2 = ~FG%.

So 39%, give or take, might be a realistic goal. Personally, I think he won't get quite to 39%, but 36-38% should be in play if the 78% is indeed an accurate number (sample size?) .

No one on our team shot over 40% from downtown last year. Anything between 35-40% would be fantastic. The important thing is he shoots it confidently and consistently. Hesitating to take an open shot is worse than actually missing it and I think Jeremy was hesitant at times.

I was happy with Lin's shooting to end the year and am surprised that he gets so much criticism about it. They way people obsess over shooting percentages you'd think Vernon Maxwell was the worst Rocket ever.
