oh man, this is too much fun. i know i said i wouldn't indulge myself and give you the satisfaction but i must reply.

what's the point in harping on the point that a backup played well during the playoffs. like you said, it doesn't have a direct implication that they're better/more talented player than "said" starter. it doesn't make any logical sense to say lin's inexperienced in the playoffs means he shouldn't be a starter on a contending team. morey stated on a podcast that the stats show that lin was #2 (behind harden) in contributing to wins on the rockets. believe it or not, you have to win regular season games to GET to the playoffs. if you think beverley is ready to be a starter for the team because of his playoff performance then you don't understand the concept of sample size. you should really crunch your numbers too. like i just posted, a fair assessment would be to analyze how beverley has played (shooting %, types of passes, assists, steals, running of offense) against lin starting from when beverley started with the rockets. the playoffs have a greater implication but you don't get to the playoffs without winning regular season games so try comparing apples to apples.

ok, so fisher did a great job off the bench in the 2013 playoffs. he's well prepped...as in he's been in the league for 17 years and played 240 playoff games! b/c he played so well, he deserves to be a starter now?

the whole purpose of the green/allen comparison with playoff 3 pointers is to juxtapose (look it up) the beverley/lin argument and how just because a player performed one way in the playoffs does not translates directly to the regular season performance and who's better in that regard.

haha, yes, the rest of the intelligent population would have somehow interpreted you mentioning my username "boil" and how it must be related to "pot" with the expression "the kettle calling the pot black." SARCASM! like all your arguments, they're not well thought out, full of holes, require more explanation, etc. of course, you needed to come back and explain. i thought they would've taught you how to incorporate complete sentence structures and arguments in school at this point. then again, you do mention how you're misunderstood. sad story.

I don't think he's a better player than Lin, just more seasoned. They are both different players with more to learn, but look at how PB handled his first NBA experience, which would be enough to deal with, but to go through what he went through with the RW injury and still handle it without hardly blinking? That's a mentally though dude. Could Lin have handled something similar just as well? Maybe or maybe not. I don't know. what i do know is, we actually saw Bev handle it. We know what he is made of. It's not a knock on Lin, he just hasn't been in the same situation. You don't know how a guy will react to a situation until he's in it.

I guess I should have been more clear. You don't like him the player. Don't really care if you like him the person. Anyways, every positon should be important, but how important depends on the teams. Just like the PG positon is not as important say for teams like Heat or even for the Lakers when they had Fisher. That's why having a great player like Harden there's less burden on other positons (of course you would want all great players in every position, but that hard to get).

Your last sentence does basically say Dwight would think Lin is so bad that he would stay away even though we have a great player in Harden at his position and good players like Parsons and Asik at theirs and I don't think Lin is that bad at his postion either as some do. Anyways, don't know what Dwight will do, but I disagree that Lin being the PG for this team is the deterrrnt that you believe. Agree to disagree.

because he played in Russia for a few years and had been battle tested under the pressure environment in Europe.

Where did i say Bev deserve to start right now? The jury is still out on that one. I used Bev as an example of what pro experience can do for a young player entering the league. I said he could get promoted, but that depends on the continued development of both players, as well as who else we have around them.

Lol, no one said anything about making him the starter, especially when they have RW, but you just pointed out how experience is valuable, thanks.

I never argued it made Bev better than Lin. I argued playoff experience is important to help a contender and Lin hardly has any, and since he's our starting PG, maybe Dwight will see that as an issue in his quest for a ring.

Pot. Kettle. Don't they teach how to capitalize in 4th grade?

I'll just leave y'all with this, straight from the horse's mouth:

so you don't think beverley's better than lin but more seasoned. if you make an ambigious claim that tenure has more to do with a starting position than skill then you better be prepared to apply this very flawed logic to other players. so, derrick fisher has played 17 years and 240 playoff games. he's not as good as westbrook but he should be a starter because he's more seasoned. HAHA

so beverley was able to play the pg position like he's supposed to after ruining westbrook's knee. so he should be a starter now. LOL obviously everyone endures different situations. it's called life. i don't expect the rockets to have lin go and ruin drose's knee next year and see how lin reacts compared to beverley and hand over the starting pg spot to whoever handles it better. we haven't seen how beverley would react and grow with the recovery to a torn meniscus but we have with lin. so what.

you're romanticizing the moment, like those dorks who wanted cody carlson instead of warren moon. the great defense by bev was a hit to the knee, otherwise go back and look at games 2-6, where their back ups had their way with our pg. the highest point total was 16 for bev but his stellar defense gave Jackson and fisher a combined 30 points, jackson 18.

Harden, lin and bev all suffer from defensive woes when it comes to over helping and leaving their man wide open. Also, all three need to improve playing off the ball too.

Trust me, and you can search my history lowry, dragic and lin would all be successful point guards here. I almost shed a tear when dragic left, but apparently that idiot maury thought having the flexibility to acquire a dwight howard in the future was more important than giving an extra year to gogi. what an idiot that maury=/

why can't we be excited that we have a nice tandem at the pg position with room to grow ? competition will bring out the best.

You don't think Beverley handled that situation very well? First year in the league, doesn't start, didn't have reason to expect to, and he's suddenly thrown in there, in the playoffs, all while being the focus of RW's injury and receiving death threats via twitter?

He obviously didn't play exceptionally well. He' still new here, just like Lin, but he handled it about as well as anyone could have in his position. He could have folded like a lawn chair and thought, let AB deal with this. It would have been easy to take a step back, who would have really blamed him, given where he came from? Instead, he welcomed it all and faced it. Remember, we're talking more about his mentality here than anything, that's what experience mostly brings to a player (a change in or improved mentality).

This is laughable. So Beverley takes Westbrook out of the playoffs, making his job much easier, and he's mentally tough? Oh, the will of iron to carry on and keep playing...

Sigh...players, younger and older, have folded in easier circumstances. Are you telling me that experience didn't show us anything more about his mentality and potential moving forward? Our perception of PB didn't change at all, especially in a positive manner?

As a pro? He's been playing professionally since 2008 and big minutes, from what i understand. Didn't he say he was the (can't remember players name, James harden, i think) of Russia?

And by that I'm not implying he is as good as Harden, obviously.

To question Jeremy's mental toughness is laughable. He's the textbook example of perseverance.

With Westbrook out, a huge amount of pressure was lifted. His job got much easier, how does a situation like that show off his mental fortitude? He endured "death threats" from fans? Please, you can't be serious.

I'm glad that you said this, Mike.

Many of the ABJ group are Kobe Bryant fans, as seems to be the case with RV6. I have noticed this time and time again in dealing with ABJ members.

I'm not sure why that is, but there does seem to be a correlation.

If you are an ABJ person, then your last hope at this moment -- besides criticizing Lin's salary -- is to play the "he fails in the playoffs" card.

It's like walking a plank for the ABJ crew. The amount of space on the plank is getting less, so they are hanging on to every inch of space with increasing gusto. The "he fails in the playoffs" appears to be a prime piece of real estate now for the ABJ gang.

Saying that Lin is not yet "solid," I mean, I hardly even know what to say. We're talking about the same Lin Magic Johnson compared with Steve Nash, right? And the same Lin that Isiah Thomas -- former Lin hater -- said may be part of the best backcourt in the league?

"Solid" has long been in the rear view mirror.

Still a long way to go, but that milestone seems long gone.

I still dont know what ABJ stands for...

And you didn't read all the replies, understandable, since it's a lot, but i've responded to the solid comments already.

I am a fan of basketball, so yeah, i'm a fan of what kobe has done for the game, but of course i'm not a Laker fan or Kobe only fan or whatever you are implying. Y'all do know there is more to basketball than the Rockets, right?? Like an entire league!

Why does it always have to be an attack on Lin's person or skills, when someone says he lacks something? Why can't he be a mentally tough kid, but still inexperienced?

If i were to say Lin isn't as great of a shooter as Steph curry, why would that translate to Lin sucks at shooting? SMH..

So your answer to my question is no? Nothing changed? If Lin was healthy and PB hardly go off the bench, then our view of him would be the same, as it is now? The coaches would not have learned anything more or new about how he could handle a starting spot?

I am not sure if Euro experience can be considered as more experience than college experience. Lin was the "(can't remember players name, James harden, i think)" of Harvard.

"And by that I'm not implying he is as good as Harden, obviously."
