Oh yeah this is all Morey team and I would say they are doing good. Overachieving I would say. Morey's team from the Coaches to the players.
For the sake of argument, Lin in the previous games won the games via pick n roll and ALOT of layups. Today the Lakers took away the PnR and his layups (the Lakers are top 10 in defense), but Lin managed to score even more - via hot hot shooting (not going to happen all the time) and, more importantly, free throws. He's already getting superstar calls when he drives, and since paint play is his preferred style, he's going to be getting to the line alot. He was defended as well as the Lakers could guard him; the only challenge left is a team with a good pg defender AND a good backcourt. Next up, Timberwolves!
Well this is interesting...apparently Lin models himself after Dragic. This was taken when he was picked up by the Warriors: http://blogs.mercurynews.com/kawaka...lin-draws-the-cameras-says-hes-ready-to-play/
What you say is true. But the disparity of players like TWill, Thabeet, even Flynn, whom have been given countless chances on their perceived potential. Yet a guy like Lin was dismissed as "scrub cut by two teams." Even after 4 straight games of phenomenal play, people still dismiss it and say, "He's just a flash in the pan... Look at Mike James... etc." Here's an article I quoted in another thread: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/20...0/jeremy.lin/index.html?hpt=hp_t3&xid=shareFB Like the plight of blacks in the corporate world, people don't realize the implicit glass ceiling built in the basketball world for Asians unless they experience it themselves. I know this should be in D&D where I don't care to go in.
Lin has an amazing bball IQ, I think the Nash comparisons are accurate simply because he has the Nash/Bird ability to accurately predict where guys are going to go next and make decisions accordingly. Most people are wondering how come a dude who isn't athletic and has a horrible looking jumpshot can produce so much and defend so well, its because he has access to the Matrix Bullet Time/Max Payne slo-mo just like those two guys. Dragic unfortunately, seems to have only an average understanding of the game, and most of it came from his extensive b-ball experience and not because of his own abilities. In majority of the games, I'd probably say Lin is the better player simply because he can create for others far more effectively. However, Lin because of his limited abilities can only do so much, I don't really see him doing anything against the Derons and CP3s of the league. Dragic though, has a much higher ceiling, and has proven he can produce even against the best competition in the L. In the playoffs, that'll matter more than Lin's consistent production, which is why I still prefer Dragic because of his potential.
"Coming out of nowhere" happens more frequently in baseball than it does other major sports. Mike Piazza was a 62nd round pick. Roy Oswalt was a 23rd round pick.
He didn't come out of nowhere. He was cali player of the year. Finalist for bob cousy award etc. People just keep doubting him.
If Lin keeps up this rate, or even close to it for the rest of the year, I'd take him over Kyle Lowry.
Lin will cool down. Dragic has proven to be a good player. Lin may very well be at Dragic level however.
That's he only thing you can argue about. The Rockets management was cheap. They could have spent an extra 800k to shore up the PG spot and to keep the market for PGs high. Morey went to MIT and he knows this, but he failed to communicate it. He made the easy move over the right move. I still pick Dragic. I bet he could do wonders on this NY roster with D'Antoni. He can penetrate to the basket just as well as Lin, and he can knock down the jumper...but like others have said, the decision was Lynn or Flynn. We saw enough to know which one to pick.
Comparing Lin to Dragic is like going into a whorehouse and deciding on using the feather or the whole chicken.
The Japanese dragon has three claws while the Chinese one has five..... Some imperial hierarchy thing.
No NBA Starter has ever had a better first week than Lin's first week as a starter. EVER! I think that says a lot.
Nah... Dragic is proven but seeking for a payday Lin is just happy to stick with a team, smaller contract So it is close... I go with the smaller contract Btw.... year of the dragon!
three days late, but my opinion has not changed. Lin has played exceptionally over the past week, however i do believe he will regress to the mean. dragic is a known commodity and I like what he provides. for me, it is still a very strong lean towards dragic.
you guys have got to be kidding me! 5 games from Lin and now you'd rather have him over Dragic? unreal.
