I'm the first one to cringe when Lin shoots, but he's really impressed me thus far. I didn't see the game last night, but did Harden and Lin really have chemistry? I was afraid their "beef" would ruin the team.

Trust me, if Lin scores 16 ppg with .67 true shooting % for the whole season (not that that will happen), there will be much interest in signing him.

Lin is doing the right thing. He just need to keep on improving his play on the court. Everything else will be sorted out. If he can play well, he will be able to go anywhere and be welcomed with open arms.

If he keep on play at this level, when his contract is up, if he feels he is treated right in Houston, he can stay, if not, he can go to teams with better fits.

Its not really a matter of him starting (though I would personally love for him to start as well). Its a matter of what is his role in the Rockets, how important is he to them, and what kind of commitment are they willing to give to him.

I feel that the certain segments of the Rockets management probably underestimated his capabilities and potential. They probably compounded that by not selling to him properly the reasons why the want him to be the sixth man and the importance of it to the team. Add to this ton of uncertainty as to whether he is supposed to play like a point guard, a shooting guard, a spot up shooter, or whatever conceivable role around Harden and Howard, and I can imagine his confusion and unhappiness at the whole sequence of events so far.

However, this whole thing can be rectified by the Rockets clearly communicating and demonstrating to him that he is a vital part of the team and a de facto part of their KEY CORE (as in the Big Three or Big Four). This can be whether as a starter or as a sixth man. I can imagine if Lin continues to perform at a very high level for the rest of the season and into the playoffs, the Rockets are going to pull no punches in trying to get him to extend his contract with them. They might even send a committee of people to try to convince him to extend, just like how they sent a whole bunch of folks to persuade Dwight to sign with the Rockets, and will probably try to sell to him that they want him as their Big Number Three or Big Number Four ;)

Basically, they are going to have to court and woo him and make him feel special just like how one would court a beautiful lady  Then he can overlook these whole poorly managed sequence of events and commit to Houston for the long term.

Just remember though... in the courtship of a beautiful lady... there is always more than one qualified gentleman out there looking to sweep her off her feet.... :p

One bad thing about Lin is that he doesn't discriminate in passing the ball, but Asik really has the hands of stone and can't dunk quickly after he gets the ball. I cringe when Lin passes to Asik even though Asik is open.

It doesn't pay for him to play in a small market with a crappy team - even if he starts. That being said, there isn't much demand for a guy of his skill set on a contending team. Contending teams usually already have their play makers. In order for him to increase his value/visibility, he needs to continue to shoot lights out from the perimeter. If he continues to shoot well and score efficiently, he'll be fine.

Lin is a pretty bright dude. I don't see him having an issue coming off the bench. I'd like to think he's well aware he has more opportunities to create when Harden is resting.

I am telling you that the best decision maker in Rockets is Lin; that's the way he's been playing BB all his life, because his goal is to win whether or not he gets the glory. If you let him handle the ball more, everyone will do better and be more involved. Ignore TOs (many of which are due to receivers' fault) because Rockets will win regardless, and he will learn to cut down by playing through his mistakes. Of course, Harden's ego will be hurt, but Harden will have a longer career in NBA picking his spots to score. The way Harden is being played, I would not be surprised if Harden gets injured. Not seeing Lin is perfect: He sometimes lays off his man too much, making him susceptible to 3s -- I have no idea why Lin continues to do that; he sometimes is too intent on getting to the basket when it would be better to pull back and hit a jumper, etc. But I have a great deal of confidence in his decision-making and directing the team. The reason why Rockets have so many TOs is because no one is consistently leading the plays.

Good to see Lin playing so well.

Excellent coaching by McHale to bring him off the bench. He is really thriving in that role.

Usually, I oculdn't care less about what the media thinks. However, the reason why I care so much about what happens to Lin is all about how he's changing the way people think about Asian Americans. That's all it is for me. It's also important that he may change the way asian parents handle their kid's priorities growing up in that they may begin to see sports as a viable uhm ... past time instead of your prototypical "go play a musical instrument".

Maybe but slightly less offensive, better defensive, and definitely less dirtier than Jason Terry lol.

I think it will be good for Lin to not change teams so often, but I think he would rather play for a coach who lets him play through mistakes. This is a luxury which Lin does not have.

“For any player, if you can get the defense at your mercy — if you can hit the shot and drive by them — there is really nothing they can do anymore,” Lin said after scoring more than he has in all but his two 38-point games. “I didn’t really shoot well at all in the first half. We were all in a funk. But then we broke through in the third quarter.

“I think I would say from a pure field-goal-attempt standpoint, this is the most aggressive I have been this year. I think once you get in a zone, you are in that zone, and there is nothing that can faze you at that point.”

if we're sniffing championships and he had a big part in getting us there, he will stay. if that happens, it would also mean that the coaches are trusting him more, and the chemistry on the court is light years ahead of where we are right now. both of those things will compel him to stay, because he would most likely be having a lot of fun.

why give up what you're comfortable with for something that's not certain. he said it himself - he plays well when he's comfortable. well, if what i mentioned above happens, then he would be in a very comfortable place.

I wish he could leave now too. We would have a much better record without him.
