Why can't I beat a woman bloody and be able to walk away from it with a clear conscience without coming down with a case of the drip the following morning?
GOOD! I'm going to go buy another Rush album, even though I have them all. Most are old LP's, some a bit banged up from years of playing them, so getting a disc won't kill me. Kudos!
From the lawyer's letter, it sounds like there wasn't anything they could do about it so long as it was a commercial use. So, they're arguing it's a political use, where I assume they have more control. Now, the lawyers get to fight over whether Limbaugh's show is really commercial or political.
Last week Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius said "the Obama administration believes that decisions about medical care should be made by a woman and her doctor, not a woman and her boss." Yet her boss not only retained the market-distorting, price-inflating tax policies that create an artificial incentive for employer-provided health insurance; he made the connection between employment and medical coverage mandatory, then decreed exactly what it would include, thereby precipitating this whole controversy. If President Obama does not want employers involved in medical coverage, why is he forcing them to be? http://reason.com/archives/2012/03/07/sandra-flukes-protection-racket

Make sure you listen to this one <iframe width="480" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/vFIexFR3XEk" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Know your place in life is where you want to be Don't let them tell you that you owe it all to me Keep on looking forward, no use in looking 'round Hold your head above the crowd and they won't bring you down Anthem of the heart and anthem of the mind A funeral dirge for eyes gone blind We marvel after those who sought The wonders in the world, wonders in the world Wonders in the world they wrought Live for yourself There's no one else more worth living for Begging hands and bleeding hearts Will only cry out for more Anthem of the heart and anthem of the mind A funeral dirge for eyes gone blind We marvel after those who sought The wonders in the world, wonders in the world Wonders in the world they wrought Well, I know they've always told you Selfishness was wrong Yet it was for me, not you I came to write this song Anthem of the heart and anthem of the mind A funeral dirge for eyes gone blind We marvel after those who sought The wonders in the world, wonders in the world Wonders in the world they wrought, wrought, wrought
Srsly? You're criticizing Obama for not being socialist enough with healthcare reform? republicans were ****ting their pants about everybody losing their employer-based health insurance. They didn't, so now it's a point to reproach Obama on? But don't worry! This is only step 1. Once the gains of the Obamacare law are cemented, we can make more reforms to ween ourselves off employer-provided insurance altogether.
The trash that spews out of Rush Limbaugh's mouth is at the level of Al Qaeda propaganda. If he was a different skin color, religion, not-American, and had a different agenda, he could be seen as an extremist. They're both crazy. And irresponsible. It's because he's pro-American not pro-Islam we give him a pass and his own show. I know somebody is going to reply to this saying Rush Limbaugh is not like Al Qaeda he doesn't promote martyrism, killing civilians, etc etc. But think about it for a second, if you were in a different country, had a certain religion, surrounded by people who hate America, you can easily imagine you'd see Al Qaeda in the same light some people here view Rush Limbaugh. They both serve the same purpose, riling up their looney base. I think Rush Limbaugh is scary, crazy, and dangerous. He's simply too powerful for the good of society.
The ironic thing about this (non) story is that, with all the silly fuss being made about it right now, no one will even remember it in 2 weeks once we've found another non-story to replace it with.
Unlike wages, employee health benefits aren’t taxed and haven't been since WW2. The employers have an incentive to beef up benefits. It also helps lock-in employees. Employees take what’s offered rather than shop for their own insurance on the open market (if one is even allowed). We could extend the tax exclusion to all medical expenses and insurance costs, regardless of who purchases them, or abolish the income tax.
I see that in this, we are of like minds (except the abolish income tax thing). Which makes your previous posts that seem to deride Obamacare all the more confusing. If we repealed it, we'd push everyone back to their abject reliance on employers for health coverage. With Obamacare and a few tweaks, we actually have a vehicle to provide health insurance to everyone in a way that doesn't have to rely on employers.
Girls can pretty much get laid, if they are young and not choosy, whenever they want. Deal with the double standard. I find it difficult to believe more than a handful of women have spent more than 1K per year on birth control. Much less struggled financially to do it.
What power does he have exactly? Oprah can take a dump on a book and make it #1. Not to mention she got a guy elected president. Rush can't do ****.
Doesn't the pill cost the same whether you have sex three times a day, three times a year or never?.... provided you take it daily. Is it possible that Limbaugh doesn't understand that... or is that just an indication of how goofy he was being, i.e. illustrating the absurd with an absurdity. According to Planned Parenthood, the cost of birth control pills is $15-50 per month: http://www.plannedparenthood.org/health-topics/birth-control/birth-control-pill-4228.htm
Even though I seldom agree with him, I've always liked Bill Maher and now he's garnered a new respect from me: '"Hate to defend #RushLimbaugh but he apologized, liberals looking bad not accepting," Maher tweeted. "Also hate intimidation by sponsor pullout." http://www.upi.com/Top_News/US/2012...slut-apology/UPI-89371331155181/?spt=hs&or=tn
