It's too bad players wouldn't do the same thing, then there would be no need for salary caps (especially with Baseball players).
Mack Brown is no Rick Barnes. His coaching staff will find a way to blow a couple of games every year.
Knight will get his paycheck from UI for firing him without procedure. Maybe now Texas Tech can afford stamps and Leach's bar tab
No question it was a dissapointing year for Tech. They always seemed to come up just a little bit short. I dont blame Knight the team just is not very talented outside of a few players. Win or lose its still alot of fun to go to the arena and watch Knight do his job..any tech fans know of any recruits that are coming in? Knight will get this going right way before hes done
Yup. Either in 1996 or 1997 I remember reading that Smith donated $2.5 million (of his $4.5 salary) to MSU to build an academic hall for student athletes. He played for Atlanta at the time.
I would never donate to my alma mater unless I went to school for free. I paid for my education. They didn't do anything for me. That's just my perspectiive.
I agree PSJ. I paid (well my parents dis) tens of thousands of dollars for my 4-year education. I don't feel I owe my university anything. I paid for a service, I received the service, and I am happy with the result of that service (the obtaining of a degree). I don't plan to give the service provider a tip!
Well, if you donate to your alma mater, some students that could not afford to pay for school (or have their parents pay for them) might have a chance to go.
If you believe this...then rather than donate to the school where it will be wasted by the huge bureaucracy that major colleges are now...put it into scholarships funds to make sure it goes straight to needy students.
Most people don't donate just to donate. They get something in return (ex. tax writeoff, membership, building name, etc.).
Indiana played Tech last year in Lubbock. Only way it could get interesting is if it's played in Bloomington.
I don't have to respect him at all. In fact, I can even suspect that giving back this portion of his salary is related to this despicable, and illegal action. I imagine 250k will just about cover the settlement for that.
You think Bobby was the one who is responsible for this? I think he had everything to lose and nothing to gain if he was, thus I find it rather difficult to find a motive for him being the one responsible. Maybe I am wrong, but I stand by saying I would want my son to go play for a person like him.
