It has a permit and is going to be installed according to code in April - was on backorder. The AC would go on the other side of the garage.
We "inherited" our generator and it didn't meet specs. It was too close to a window. An electrician was required by law to take it out of commission when he was doing work that eventually involved the generator and saw the violation. We are now having to move it to the opposite side of the house.
Lol. This was probably never to code but my grandfather, who was an engineer, upgraded his house from window units to central air, he didn't want to lose any backyard space for the A/C unit. So he put it in the garage right above where his car would park. Pretty ingenious. Worked for at least 50 years in that space. (no idea if the unit was ever replaced, but that's where it always was until 2008.)
There is one there already, which was there for 15 years or so, but which is broken. The new one will just replace that one. The AC will be on the other side.
Last night I got together with some friends in suburban Minnesota to watch the benefit on streaming for Ukraine with Gogol Bordello. Age ranged from 54 - 40. We enjoyed corn beef and cabbage from slow cookers and chili from an Instapot, spice level Minnesotan (nonexistant). As a middle aged guy realized it's not a good idea to eat cabbage, chili and beer at the same time.. It was the highlight of my week..
Thanks, man. That's my happy place. I can work out, play old school games, build/work on ****, DJ terribly, play board games or just be alone and watch sports or listen to music. I like a large area full with everything together. We have room in our house to break this stuff out, but having separate rooms for gym, games, etc, just isn't my jam. My wife is a minimalist so having tons of stuff in the living areas stresses her out. The best solution was an air conditioned garage, which we never parked in anyway. My two smallest boys love it in there, too. It's slightly dangerous because I have sharp/heavy/hot tools in there so we don't let them in unsupervised, especially the 4yo who is absolutely fearless.
