saudi arabia is important b/c it is proven that they are sponsoring terrorism, they provided most of the people who carried out 9/11, the event which spurred on our little adventure in the middle east, they are sending support to insurgents in iraq who are killing americans - yet they are our allies. other countries like iran do similar things and we have people wanting to kill them all.

our government is very closely aligned w/ the saudi's, who are one of the most brutal oppressive regimes on the planet. the people who attacked us came from there, but your president goes around holding hands with their princes and has his family friend act on behalf of the saudi's against the families of the victims of 9/11.

i dont think we should be so closely aligned with them. my point is that saudi is just as complicit, if not more so when it comes to terrorism, but everyone is wanting to attack iran.

as much as iran is, if not more. it proves the hypocrisy of our foreign policy. terrorism is fine as long as it is in our interests or it is our friends doing it.

man, your reading comprehension sucks! i never said he was a senior u.s. government official and neither did the article.

the article doesnt say he is a senior u.s. government official. here is what it says - "Alexis Debat, a senior fellow on counterterrorism at the Nixon Center and an ABC News consultant"

where did you get this french stuff from? do you have a link? im all ears.

again, i know it is a difficult concept for you to understand but often people will post articles to reinforce their arguments.

and if i may throw your words back at you once again,

for the love of god...

    these are all seperate people
    1) u.s. intelligence
    2) pakistani intelligence
    3) Alexis Debat, a senior fellow on counterterrorism at the Nixon Center and and an ABC News consultant
    4) a senior U.S. government official

you see, there is a "comma" after the "abc news consultant" part, which would indicate that the next item listed is seperate from the previous.

did you go to an underperforming school or something?

for the 3rd time, do you have a link to verify the "french" stuff or for that matter anything the "responder" said?

its amazing. your "your president" comments are flat out annoying and its no wonder that we cant have a good decent conversation.

and i know the saudis are suspect and have shady acts. What would you want done to the saudis then? how do you stop the "hypocrisy"...which really is nothing new when talking about govts.

And i dont think "everyone" is wanting to attack iran, all options have to be considered but that doesnt mean everyone wants to.

The story is bunk because you cannot name names (like I originally said) of the supposed "senior U.S. govt. official", or separate "U.S. intelligence"...provide cross reference support with specific evidence and names....

P.S. nice of you to try to mask Debat. Great job!...The terrorists could learn from you! ;)

lets see, thats like the 3rd or 4th time you've taken a shot at me so far. How long will you hold animosity over me b/c we disgreed over our torture discussion?

    seriously?

aint that the truth. its not a debate with him, its him lecturing to you and then not even having the common courtesy to try and understand someone else's opinion. He inserts a stray man and then quickly claims victory! :D

why are you annoyed? is he not your president? why would that fact preclude us from having a "good decent conversation"?

that is for another thread - this one is derailed far enough. but i will say that at the very minimum we should not be aligning ourselves with such a corrupt, brutal and oppressive regime. but the bush's are bff's with them. our middle east foreign policy involves way too much picking and choosing which terrorists and dictators we want to support vs. which ones we want to fight.

by doing the right thing, which for the most part, governments are incapable of...so i wont be holding my breath.

its kind of nit-picking on your part, but you got me. i should have said "many".

the article doesnt name names, but again, if you want to dismiss a mainstream news article and it sources, but believe the words of someone who posted in the comments section (can you give me their name at least?) than i cant help you.

your school system failed you miserably. as a former educator i am terribly sorry. :(

you asked me a question and i responded to it. this is a public message board and if you dont like it the solution would be to stop engaging me.

i think you mean "straw" man.

and i do understand your opinion(s). i just disagree with most of them and as this is a public message board geared towards debate and discussion i think i have the right to debate and discuss them.

Yes, I will dismiss a supposed mainstream news article (although quite a few accuse ABC of political bias) just as easily as a political motivated blog if it fails to provide cross reference support with specific meaningful evidence and names....

In the future I recommend you validate the bunk articles you come across for specifically:

    A. cross reference support (Are there differing sources of the same news, and independent from one another?)
    B. specific meaningful evidence (such as verified first-hand account or established direct authority...)
    C. cited names of consequence for accountability and validity

till then, I am sorry for you to be lost in the world of not thinking for yourself and hope and pray you can realize the virtue of independent thinking...

again, if you want to discount a mainstream news article but take the word of someone who posted in the comments section regarding the article that is your business. the funny thing is, the person posting the comments which you have for some reason clung to did nothing to discount anything the article said.

The problem you don't realize is that the person posting comments demonstrated the virtue of thinking for himself...that is why I paid attention to that amid the bunk article you cited...
