You really need to get your head out of your a$$ if you are going to be taken seriously anywhere.

The commission is headed by a Republican and half of the commission is Republicans. You can term the questioning "venom" if you like, but I found both the GOP chairman and his Dem sidekick to be remarkably neutral when I saw them on Meet the Press and the other talking heads shows. There are tough questions that need to be asked of the people involved and if they (or you) can't handle the heat, they need to get out of the kitchen. The job of the commission is to report of the failures that led up to the worst terrorist attack on America and that is what they are doing.

Actually, Ishtar (Warren Beatty and Dustin Hoffman) and Quicksilver (Kevin Bacon) were both worse.

    andy andy!

Don't you know this whole thread is indicative of the whole GOP playbook? TJ didn't like the pres' little peep show last night, so it's the old bait and switch tactic by starting this little distraction of a thread.

    come on! get with it!

Interesting how T_J places the whole substance of his ridiculous thread on an "editorial" from a freaking tabloid! I guess the Faux News website was down earlier today.....

Exactly. Don't waste your energy. When tj makes a point worthy of rebuttal, that's not soaked in bile, then respond. But don't hold your breath.

The Seattle Times has published a great series of articles on this incident, turns out that Ressam was caught not due to any extraordinary measures by law enforcement, but due to his own incompetence and pure luck. Giving the Clinton Administration "credit" for this is a bit silly.

    http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/news/nation-world/terroristwithin/chapter1.html

    1) Ressam [alias Noris] was caught in a routine vehicle stop performed by ordinary on-duty Customs inspectors,

    2) while performing routine inspections,

    3) who believed Ressam to be running drugs,

    4) to the extent that one of them nearly blew them all to bits by shaking a bottle of nitroglycerin, not suspecting what it was.

Looks to me like the "War on Drugs" actually had a positive benefit here.

I would have to agree here.

BTW, could you remind me where the Republican National Convention will be this year?

Neither Clinton or Bush or Teddy freakin Roosevelt could have done anything to stop the 9/11 attacks. The facts are that within a free society the presumption is given to freedoms until they are proven to be untenable. American's would have never sanctioned the restrictions on feedom required to influence the attacks before the event.

Hindsight like the 9/11 commision make everything so clear but in real time people are so focused on immediate events that they have little time for the hypotheticals. You see it in your own life and it's no different for a presidential administration. There are an unlimited number of things that could command your attention but you have a limited amount of time. Things don't become important until they are an emergency.

If t_j can claim that Clinton did nothing to fight terrorism (silly) than I can give Clinton credit for foiling this plot (equally silly).

Actually, for me things are going very well. I have shown you up for the fool you are and if you want me to respond to the intimations about the drug war...

How much could we do to protect the country againsty terrorism if we spent the money we waste on the drug war on anti- and counter- terrorism?

The government has admitted that a sh!tload of data was captured on all of the attackers involved including Bin Ladin and al Qaeda before 911 but hadn't communicated the imminent danger among the different entities capturing this data in order to thwart it.

Clearly the government is at fault here. We're likely to see a UFO invasion before they'd admit its own mismanagement (read: incompetence) as it pertains to anything, let alone 911 or the current debacle in Iraq.

    Honesty = trust

this is what the democrats have stooped to now:

"By the way, did you notice Powell doesn't tone down the words when talking to Fox News, because he knows their viewers don't give a **** if Iraq is a slave colony for Massah Bush and Uncle Tom Powell for the next 50 years. -- The Daily Kos

i have truly, definitively, lost all hope for the current iteration of the democratic party, utterly blinded by bush hatred, it will stop at nothing, lies, distortions, abdication of core principles, to defeat bush. they're a sad, pathetic, and utterly leaderless party that offers nothing but venom and spite as a substitute for policy and ideas.

Why do the liberals *insist* upon tearing down African-American role models? Our society needs strong African-American leaders in government. This will set an example for others to follow. The liberals want nothing of this. That is why they blatantly assassinate the character of Dr. Rice, Powell and Clarence Thomas. It's sickening. All of this from the 'alleged' supporters of affirmative action. Really makes one question whether the liberals actually support affirmative action or if it is their bribe to minorities to get their votes...

Cuts both ways, cowboy. Why do conservatives *insist* upon tearing down Vernon Jordan, Jesse Jackson, and (posthumously) Dr. Martin Luther King?

This is funny. If you haven't noticed, the Bushies haven't taken out the Taliban or OBL yet either with full scale *war on terror* after three years.
