Franchise sure after there's a Nazi lover list for you :)

Can I still be liberal even though I think abortion is completely wrong?

I'm definitely a moderate. ((Edit:: Scratch that. I support those who I best associate with. I voted for Nader and wish I had voted libertarian instead. ))

Too liberal to be a republican, and too conservative to be a democrat. Here's my quick run down:

    Let me keep my guns.
Let me buy more guns if I want to.
    Keep abortion legal.
Protect the goddamned environment (I'm talking to YOU Bush and Cheney).
Legalize drugs and prostitution (keep your laws off my body).
No "Hate Crimes." Just Crimes. Murder is murder is murder, no matter which way you slice it.
    Keep the death penality.

I'm sure there are more. I'm still shocked....no ones ever accused me of being all-out conservative. Lord knows my girlfriend, who is a raving conservative, should balk at this one.

Hmmm. I definitely tend toward being a conservative. But there are plenty of issues on which I would lean toward moderate. There are some, I'm sure, on which I would have to side with liberals. It all depends on the subject discussed.

I don't think I'm clear on what exactly a Libertarian is. They are for many liberal issues but against government involvement in them as far as I can tell. I'm ok with the moderate label, but I would be on the liberal side of that list I think. From a policy standpoint many of you would think me a raving liberal, but that's because government is a very different animal in Canada.

I'm for Canadian gun laws. (It is illegal to own a handgun, unless you are a collector or belong to a shooting club, and even then the restrictions and registrations are considerable.) Compare our violent crime statistics and you will see why.

I'm pro-government involvement in areas where it makes sense for them to be involved, i.e. healthcare (we have universal medicare), unemployment insurance, pension plans, welfare, etc. I'm against the manipulation of these programs for political purposes, and think we should develop an arms-length administration structure.

I truly can't understand why a first world country would still have the death penalty. (We haven't had the death penalty officially since 1976 and there hasn't been an execution since 1962.)

I'm pro-environment, but against fanatical environmentalism.

I believe human life begins at the moment of conception, but that the solution to abortion is to address the causes of unwanted pregnancy, not proudly proclaiming how wrong it is.

I'm against incarceration for most non-violent crimes, but I don't think we should legalise drugs or prostitution.

    Yeah, I guess I'm a moderate.

I spread the gamut, but I'd like to be a dictator.

Bow down before me and worship my greatness.
