The history of government involvement in marriage requires more research than I care to involve myself with right now. From my limited searching, it appears most marriages were governed by the church at the time of the founding, though some states had regulations against interracial marriage (apparently North Carolina first). I can't find any involvement of the federal government in marriage regulations prior to the 20th century. Maybe you are aware of some such laws. As for government involvement in sexual relations, they seem not to have been enforced even when on the books:

I would repeal the Civil Rights Act as an unconstitutional intrusion by the government into the people's right of free association. Segregation was itself a matter of state law.

 

Yes we get it. Small local governments are often more willing to be more overtly racist and enact segregation polices so you prefer that. Local governments are more willing to pander to the majority ethnic base at the expense of individual liberty. This trend is eerily similar to Weimar Germany where local Bravarian governments were far more ostracizing towards Jews and Romani people than the national Weimar government. The local governments had far more explicit Nazi party members and were far more popular at the local level than overall in the Weimar Republic.

The free market caused red lining(black families lowered property values because the market didn't like black people). The government stepped in saying that home ownership and mortgages shouldn't be based on market value due to perceptions of race in said market.

I get it. You want a free market system where if the market was racist, that racism shapes property values, and how neighborhoods are segregated. That's something you want. It's okay to be open about it.

 

Actually, I oppose state mandated segregation. I am for less government involvement in our lives. If people choose to self-segregate, that should be up to them. I wouldn't personally segregate. The current trend seems to be for self-segregation by specific minority groups (see for example, black graduation ceremonies, black dorms, gay neighborhoods, etc.). That should absolutely be allowed (and is).

Yes, I want a free market system. If some people base their home valuations on race, that should be up to them. That would create opportunities for non-racist people to cater to an underserved community.

 

Yes you want a free market because the free market won't protect the individual liberty of minority classes and often suppress them. The free market allows a specific race to disproportionately not own land and property. It allows the undesirable races disproportionately not own property and therefore not gain ground in economic and political clout. I get it. I get why you want that.

Like I said it fits the raison d'etre of the American Libertarian of maintaining the economic and cultural hiearchy at all costs. The "free market" works wonders in maintaining that hiearchy.

Because if property is an investment, people aren't going to purposefully buy and sell property to underserved communities based on that intent because they aren't going to invest in communities that lower their investment as the market says that them existing in these properties lowers the value.

So the market descentivizes catering towards underserved communities when it comes to property investment. Because who resides in the property effects the value of investment unlike most other goods and services.

The housing market doesn't work the same as your basic goods and services market. The value of property is heavily dependent on who you lend to at least it was the case in the 50s and 60s when redlining was at its peak.

That isn't the least bit what it is about either. You'd be hard pressed to find any grown ass adult with common sense resorting to TikTok for anything. What you are failing to see, or acknowledge, is the fact that the youth in this country is dumb as rocks for the most part. You can thank TikTok and social media in general for creating the idiocracy that is rapidly becoming reality.

 

I would agree that social media is dumbing down the kids of today (not to mention a ton of adults), I don't do social media because #1 I am simply not that interesting to have anyone "follow" me nor do I want everyone up in my business and #2 is because it's become a haven for misinformation and flat out lies.........hey, I like the cute cat videos as much as the next guy but for anyone to use social media as a news source needs to check themselves.
