I'm not surprised. Air America failed because they were inept. You wonder why conservative talk radio owns the airwaves even though half of what they say is often a crock of you-know-what? Because those guys have mastered the art ... they know how to engage their listeners and entertain them. Case in point -- Michael Savage. The man's right wing lunacy knows no bounds, but dangit, he knows how to keep you listening. He is a masterful storyteller and he is so engaging. That's why you have hundreds of thousands of people listening to him everyday -- as crazy as he is. Air America started off as some attempt to be a left wing answer to Rush & Co., and they failed because they just weren't competent enough to hang with those guys. It has nothing to do with ideology or popularity of conservative vs. liberal viewpoints ... it's just a case of sheer ineptitude.
No, my point was that President Bush decided to let Tony Snow do his talking and thinking for him, after hearing him on the radio.
just like in the nfl or the nba where one conference has the most talent and therefore dominant teams, the republicans have all the political talent. that doesn't mean they are right or doing a good job, just that they are better able to sway/manipulate the masses through discourse. however, they haved screwed things up so royally that i think the pendulum swings to the dems by default. jeez, what have we come to?
I actually just started working as a bankruptcy lawyer. Using the bankruptcy system has nothing to do with ideology... large corporations, including those that come out against government regulations and donate to Republicans, file for chapter 11 all the time. It's just the way the legal system works to resolve issues that arise from the capitalist system. Kenny Lay's boys (and girls) at Enron sure asked the "government to bail them out" judging by your standard, didn't they?
Liberals are working too hard keeping the country firing on all cylinders to sit around and listen to the radio all day.
Why was this funny? Elaborate for a change. Are you opposed to the modern bankruptcy code like FD Khan appears to be? Why or why not? Or are you, like me, laughing at a supposed investment professional who apparently doesn't understand the concept of federal bankruptcy laws? I don't know if that's ROLLING ON THE FLOOR LAUGHNG type laughing, but more "funny strange".
we dont have an air america station in Houston. But, as posted earlier, they are done for. I'm not heavily involved in politics, however, i am a registered voter, and I do vote. you can buy my vote if you want.
I bought an XM Radio so I could have the option of listening to Air America. Tuned out after I heard Randi Rhodes lending credence to a 9/11 conspiracy theory (not that I wouldn't listen to her again sometime in the future), and ended up getting addicted to Opie & Anthony and Ron & Fez instead.
