And yet to even get Rashard, the trade would have to involve a third team and a lot of contracts to offset Rashard's BYC, unless Rashard signs for the MCE.
http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/basketball/87507_sonx18.shtml Rashard Lewis is back in Seattle. Now the question is whether he's staying. The unrestricted free-agent forward flew into town yesterday to meet with Sonics executives as the summer-long attempt to re-sign the 6-foot-10 forward nears a conclusion, possibly as early as today. "I'm optimistic that we'll reach a resolution soon," said Sonics general manager Rick Sund. "What that resolution is, we don't know."
If we could trade Taylor and Williams for Lewis in a sign and trade, that would be a perfect rearrangement of our talent, even if we're paying big bucks to Lewis ... Ming/Cato Griffin/Thomas/TMo Lewis/Rice/Nachbar Mobely/Torres/Brown Francis/Norris/Maddox I like THAT team... good now, great later
" .... if it's a toss up between the Rockets offer and the Mavs offer ... everything being equal .... Rashard will opt to Houston ... 1. IF : that means Seattle would have to be all but out of the picture. 2. A TOSS UP: if the money/deal offered was the same with the Rox as it was with the Mavs, he would come to Houston. Hey I read as many Rashard Lewis threads as I eat asparagus. I only eat asparagus once a year. It's a family joke. You won't get it. But it means I very rarely do anything I don't like more than once every twelve months. Getting Rashard Lewis in a one year deal for the ME is a no brainer decision. Getting Rashard Lewis in a (last ditch-get something-scrub-trade-or-get-nothing at all, a la Seattle effort) is another no brainer. After all the summer Rashard bashing, Rashard spinning and Rashard this and Rashard that .... he remains as close to a Houston acquisition as any other time. That was my point. Cheers.
OK, he's friggin signed ladies. Please let's move on to trashing Moochie for dribbling too much or Mobley for jacking it up. Go on, nothing to see here, move along.
yea and about mooch...theres been complaints about moochies hair.... teammates were saying his hair was distracting the offensive plays and ... iono JK JK jus trying to change the subject..
" ... Don't you mean "remained"? [/B Wish I did. It would certainly make me look a little better. When I posted this I had not heard that he was signed. I guess that puts an extra special emphasis on " ... he doesn't know a damn thing about basketball ... ." heh, heh Or maybe I didn't read anything about Rashard Lewis all summer .... except here .... and reading this single thread ... well .... Dallas and all ... How was your summer? Did you get a bloody haircut yet? Mmmmmmm, me neither. Cheers.
Payton may not be coming back neither and he may have already decided this. Payton said it was a 50% chance if the Sonics are lucky. From Lewis' point of view I would not want to jump back on that ship especially if Payton is gone. The NBA is fantastic!!!
Payton will blow a lot of smoke to try to get a deal (just like Lewis), but will eventually come back to Seattle, because they will offer more than anyone else. Free agency is dead in the NBA, except for middle class exception-type players. . . . . . . unless Payton wants to forgo millions of dollars to go to the Lakers for the MCE and get a ring.
That is what Payton wants a NBA ring and he knows he can not get it in Seattle even if Lewis re-signs. Seattle should have started rebuilding after Kemp left. Now it is to late. Even if they keep Lewis and Payton where will that take them? This just delays the rebuilding process, they are trying to pull a Utah, but at least Utah has Stockton and Malone Seattle only has Payton and a Kobe want to be.$$$$$$$ I feel sorry for their fans. Bad times are still coming, they have not even reached them, not to mention they have to endure them for at least several season before they can be competitive again.
