I agree with your points on the matters of coaching. But the unfortunate circumtances of Carter's coaching can not be used as an arguement against Kobe. The fact is that this is a part of basketball. I would like to add that Phil Jackson is also a coach who has not built a team. He arrived on the bulls when they were clearly on the verge of winning a title, having just lost to the pistons in the eastern finals. Phil also did not exactly build the present day lakers. I do feel that everyone here is down playing the importance of defense. Until Carter improves his D to the point where it is at least close to Kobe's, Carter will lose the arguement of whether or not he is better then Kobe.

I can't dispute the fact that kobe benefits enormously from the presence of shaq.

One more interesting point in discussing whether Vince is better then kobe, is that kobe has a much bigger ego on being the best player in the league. This in my opinion is neccessary for all great players to rise to the elite level. No way would Kobe choose to attend a graduation ceremony on the same day as the most important game of his career (Raptors vs 76'ers gm 7) although I will not dare to argue that this caused Vince to have a bad gm 7, which he did not, it did anger many of his teamates including Charles Oakley, and that can't be good for the team.

Clutch...No problem, mea culpa. I do have 2 questions, though. 1) Were the passwords assigned a year ago, or would it have been one of my own choosing? If the latter, I might be able to come up with it.

    2) Is there a limit to the number of erroneous tries I can make at guessing it?

Thanks for your response....I feel like BBS Moses.;)

Hey clutch, man you used to post all the time. The BBS could use an infusion of some old school right about now.

Clutch city has definately grown over the years, good to see you can still break out a post from time to time.

Uh, you got pissy first with Shandon Anderson sucking, and you've never recovered. Get over it.

    And DUDE.

You have not battled with me since my arrival. You have merely chosen me as your arch nemesis....and you like to start threads singling me out to argue with you.

It was fun for awhile, but this take in this thread about "battling with me," please. Please don't ever start another thread mentioning my take versus yours. That is pretty lame, since I never respond to those threads anymore,,,,don't you think?

    1) I wasn't using the coaching as a means of downplaying Kobe's accomplishments, more as a means of contextualizing Carter's 'erratic' playoff performance (NY, 1st year esp.).

    2) To a degree I agree with you, and there have been times when I have thought that Carter was just, well, too damn nice...Makes for a better healthier human being, not so much for a better basketball player. On the other hand, I DO know that he is aware of this distinction, and there have been times when I got the opinion that he is overtly trying to prove that you CAN be a nice guy and a gutsy winner at the same time. Secondly, his comments this off season may very well indicate that this is now a moot point...

Who cares about Shandon Anderson. To this day at the time Shandon deserved to play ahead of Mobley.

Just because you "claimed" to diagram Rocket plays and labeled them with "double" this and "flex" that didnt make them true....just your wacky impression of a basic clearing out iso.

I guess you did tire of it after a while. Im guessing it was somewhere around the point you claimed the Mobley iso was a 70 percent sucessful play, and I said if that was so the Rox would be undefeated....still to this day an absolutely terrible overexaggeration on your part. Maybe after I actually mapped out a game and posted the results of Mobley's iso's and its success is when you finally stopped claiming this atrocity of fluff that you tried to pawn off for facts.

Didnt at some point you claim how pathetic it was to claim how stats for players meant nothing when they played for horrible teams? (maybe Im wrong but Im almost positive at some point you did) but claim how great Mobley is after his last years numbers for...a terrible team. I see hypocracy knows no bounds with you.

My beef with you Heypee, from day one, is that if someone doesnt agree with you on all fronts they are wrong, or not knowledgable. From the first day you took an Iso and claimed "Yeah but Mobley dribbling a tad to the left, and Cato standing in the middle of the lane instead of the right of it makes this a Flex double wishbone offense", I loathed your process of twisting things to mold into your idealisms.

And exactly when was the last time I started or responded to any bit of Basketball garbage you wrote...maybe a year, maybe more? So whos lame?

Maybe I should start analyzing your writing habits, start screaming for banishments, and mislabel plays...then I can be just like you Heypartner...err Crispee.
