Wasting a season is useless. The team is still competitive and if Morey can add more pieces then who knows how far the team could go in the playoffs. Its too early to count the team out this season so taking the lottery is not a smart move unless they can trade for a lottery pick.

Rudy was the guy Morey wanted in the draft in 06.

whatever it is your smoking please pass it this way. Ever since he was on the Knicks Ariza has been a good if not great role player. And what makes you think we signed him so he can be another Battier. You act like Battier isn't on the team. Ariza needs to be Ariza and Battier needs to be Battier.

Are you kidding me??? On draft night 2007, taking Aaron Brooks with the #26 pick was a distant Plan B for the Rockets. Plan A all night (and in the weeks leading up to the draft) was for the Rockets to try to trade up a few spots to select Rudy Fernandez. Morey absolutely LOVES the guy. Unfortunately, Portland swooped in at the last minute (for the second straight year!!!) and bought up the #24 pick from Phoenix for cash (surprise, surprise) and selected Fernandez ahead of the Rockets.

This is fairly well-chronicled. I apologize, though, since I don't have a link to any articles at this time. But several posters will back me up on this.

HT -- With your rep as the trade master, why don't you suggest to Clutch starting a sticky monthly trade thread? At the end of July, the July trade thread would close and a brand new August trade thread would begin. The trade threads that we have had on the board get really long and unmanageable (that is, unreadable and out of date) if the same thread lingers month to month.

As always, a fan of the trademaster. ;)

Hmmm not saying your lying but I don't remember that. I do remember them saying that they were lucky that Brooks fell all the way to #26 for them to pick. I also remember that they were so high on Brooks that they didn't want to trade him to the Kings for Artest at the time.

I like the Hakeem comparison. Don't take that wrong way, I'm talking about the same size, athleticism, and agility of a young Hakeem. You guys who don't want him because you "don't like his game" or because "he doesn't play defense" are nuts.

I can't see Portland trading Rudy. He is WAAAY too damn popular. You should hear the way the Rose Garden chants "Rudy, Rudy". That and they already sold too many "I <3 Rudy" t-shirts to the ladies.

I like this trade. Not sure Portland would make it but I like this deal. This also leaves us AB and Battier to move for additional help. IMO Amare is your center with Pryzbilla backing him up depending on match ups. Scola starts at the four. Ariza at the 3, JRich at the 2 and then you have AB at the 1. This gives you the freedom to move Battier to a team for young talent due to the fact we are still most likely a year or two from the Championship.

I just dont see a point in acquiring Amare Stoudemire or Jason Richardson if this team isnt competing for a championship next year. And dont tell me that they are going to put us over the top because they were both on a stacked suns team last year that didnt even make the playoffs. Honestly I dont want to see this team handicapped by a huge contract again. I would much rather this team try to be like the pistons championship team was than try to spend big money on one big time free agent.

Amare got injured in the middle of the season last year. When he went out the Suns were in the top 8 of the West.

This is beautiful. Despite any reservations regarding any of the players, I would pull the trigger on this one in a heartbeat! Whether or not the other teams involved would be willing... now that's another matter, ;)

I don't see the need for BOTH Przybilla AND Amare. I would rather have Amare and Scola than Przybilla and Amare. Essentially Houston would be giving up Brooks (and his upside & contract) for Sessions & Przybilla. No thanks.

And for the guys who have no clue about Morey's infatuation w/Rudy, I'm guessing you must be new to this forum. It's only brought up every 3rd thread. :D

If you are in rebuiding mode why would you make a deal for Prizbilla and J. Rich....older guys with long expensive contracts. If you get those guys along with Amare you are most likely still trying to win now.

    This is what I think:

Portland is drooling over Battier and Morey knows it. They want to get Battier for Pzrybilla but Morey is insisting on getting Fernandez. That's what is holding the deal. Had Portland been able to sign Hedo, they might just have agreed to part with Fernandez. But alas, Toronto swooped in and ruined that plan.

You want this guy why? He's 26 and has very questionable knees. He played how many games last season? This current Rockets lineup is already facing issues with injuries and we are going to trade for another one? Right now we are looking for a new superstar to build around and I doubt picking one up that has been through microfracture surgery on a weight bearing part of his bones on his leg is a smart move. We can do better...

And who exactly is there that we can get without a huge bloated contract or perfect health with some sort of star power, realistically.

I'd like to see our list...
