Good point. Perhaps it’s more impressive in person. They seriously need an “SUV” version for this market, in my opinion. The range is outstanding.
Most of these cars are going to have the boring slab-sided "wedge" shape just for the aerodynamics. The interior is what a real luxury car should look like. It's what I hate most about Teslas. Their interiors look so dull and boring. I'm glad others are taking up the slack. Of course, this is an S-Class, so it's a 6-figure car. It ain't meant for the masses. They have an SUV version. It's called the EQC : https://www.mercedes-benz.com/en/eq/eqc/ It was supposed to come before the EQS, but a few months ago they decided not to bring it to the US. Not sure if that's still the case.
I finally got around to watching the video. It would probably take me a year to figure out all the things that car does, especially listening to the guy that does it. Lunacy! One thing that intrigued me is that it has an air suspension. It reminded me of a time in 1971 when I was hitchhiking in Switzerland with a girl I had met. We got a ride in a 1970 Citroen DS, which has a unique "air suspension," far different than the Mercedes has. The car sinks down when it comes to a stop, low to the ground, then when you start driving, it rises up. A real trip! We're sitting in the backseat going down the highway, curving around the mountains and chatting with the driver, a middle aged woman, and the ride was so smooth and quiet that it was hard to believe we were moving. Cars were whizzing past us in the fast lane like we were standing still, so I glanced over the woman's shoulder at the dash to see how slow we were going. It was pegged at 160kph - 100mph! Much later I learned that that model Citroen has a governor that limits it to that speed, pretty crazy. It was an amazing car, far ahead of it's time. As you can see from the image below, it doesn't look at all like a Camry, much less a Hyundai. Spoiler This is a much better looking Mercedes! Agree that the interior far out-classes the best Tesla has to offer.
I am with you I hate the teslas interior and I have no idea why a lot of others followed that. You don't have to be that boring to get good aero just look at what Volvo is doing.
Yeah... If I wanted to spend $108,000 on a car, one of the last things I'd be looking at is a Cadillac. lol.
Buick Regal TourX Buick Park Avenue (1996) Genesis G80 Hyundai Genesis (2015 or 2016) Buick LaCrosse (2017-2019) Honda Accord (upper trims from 2018-present) Toyota Camry (upper trims from 2018-present) I’m all over the place with stuff I’m looking at.
