Let's Talk Baylor Basketball

This is bigger than basketball. This is real life. LaceDarius struck a girl, HIS girl, so hard that he broke her jaw. But because the baby momma knows that in a year Lace will be raking in millions of dollars, she decided to not press charges and to lie that it was accidental in anticipation for a greater pay day when he abuser becomes an NBA millionaire.

Baylor University made a disgraceful decision to only suspend him for 3 games. This is absolutely outrageous. It's not about Aggies and bears and rivalries and trash talk, I'm serious. If Acie Law physically abused his girl when he was balling at A&M, I wouldn't want to see him in an Aggie uniform ever again, and I'm sure our athletic department and University officials would agree and would hand him the just punishment because we don't want criminals and domestic abusers to be associated with our program/University. I'm sure 99 out of every 100 schools in the nation would have done the same. But what does your University choose to do? suspend him for only 3 games. What an embarrassment.

I'm just wondering about the reasoning. Why 3 games? Either he struck her purposefully and broke her jaw, in which case he deserves to be kicked off the team, or you bought that ridiculous "freak accident" story, in which case he shouldn't be suspended at all. But to suspend him for only 3 games is just really mind boggling.

And please don't associate me with Hank. Yes, I enjoy the good ol' trash talk every now and then, but this is serious matter. This is unacceptable. I know many of you are too childish and will probably respond to my post with a witty interweb picture, but I would like to hear what the mature, classy ones amongst y'all are saying (looking at you madmax ). Can you help me out here? Am I missing something? or do you agree with me that this is just an awful awful decision on the part of Baylor University officials?

 

with the evidence they had, what are they supposed to do?? seriously...the district attorney can't move forward with it because she says it's no big deal.

so what's the school supposed to do?? make inferences without a trial? just call him guilty, and that's that?

there isn't a university in the country that would do that, Point. Usually when the D.A. backs off of something like this - for whatever reason - the universities involved back off as well. i can't think of a situation where it ever turned out otherwise.

on another note...when are you guys gonna create and/or contribute to an Aggie thread here?? you guys talk here all the time. what about an Aggie thread? i mean, i realize your entire fight song involves signing another school's song, but really...get your own thread and talk ags till your heart is content.

 

I get what you're saying, but why suspend him in the first place? just say there is inconclusive evidence and swipe it under the rug (we do believe innocent till proven guilty after all). But by suspending him, you're basically incriminating him and acknowledging that he committed the crime, But yet you're essentially diminishing its severity by only suspending him for 3 games, which makes Baylor look really bad.

again, not trolling/messing around, I'm legitimately asking. I really don't harbor any hatred for Baylor, just thinking out loud.

The aggie multi-page thread is a couple pages back, it was started by ziggy back in 06 I believe and we usually bump it when basketball season starts. In fact, title of this thread was mirroring the aggie thread, titled by ziggy "let's talk aggie basketball". But that's beside the point, isn't it? We're not talking aggie basketball in this thread, we're talking LaceDarius criminal activity.

 

1. i agree with that point. why suspend him at all? maybe because it was all an embarassment to the university? maybe that's what you get for, "we think you did something awful, but we can't prove it." ???

2. it's not beside the point. i see Aggies posting in here quite often. a lot. i don't see folks from other schools doing that. but Aggies post here after any event happens with respect to BU hoops. at the same time, i don't see any of you talking Aggie ball. i think that's weird.

 

and no one else has posted in there since July. meanwhile, there's posts from aggie fans all over this thread.

little secret: when you flash Horns down while playing the Bears..you look dorky. you look like the Horns own you..that they're the girl who rejected you that you can't stop thinking about, even when you're on a date with another girl. it's goofy.

also...consider not singing another team's fight song each week. also..goofy.

finally, consider talking about aggie basketball instead of trolling the other teams' threads where those teams' fans are all talking about THEIR team. i'm sure there's bandwidth space available for you guys to talk about your Aggies.

Bottom line is, Texas A&M athletics > Baylor athletics. You need a million light years to catch up, and you never will, because you're Baylor. Repeat it with me. I'M BAYLOR. Y'all would be conference-less hadn't it been for the aggies saving the big 12. In fact, you wouldn't have been in the big 12 in the first place hadn't it been for a couple of baylor alums in Texas politics that dictated that we include you. You bring nothing. No fan base, no money for the conference. You're the ugly girl nobody wants to hangout with, but we're forced to bring you along because our parents said so. in a couple of years when we bolt to the SEC, you guys will understand that without us, y'all are nothing. NOTHING.

The aggies and Longhorns have a rivalry. We sing about them in our fight song, they sing about us in their fight song (Yes, Mr. Madmax, they do! can you believe it?). We have a very respectful rivalry with Texas. Have y'all ever heard about this? "respect"? Texas fans don't throw trash on the court when we beat them, they don't boo when our players are down, they're classy, you're not. They're Texas, we're Texas A&M. You're Baylor. a step below Texas Tech. How bad does that suck?

We might have been down for the past 10 years, but it's a cycle and all teams go through ups and downs. See UT in the 90's. Go back and check Sherrill's years when we used to dominate Texas. That's college football. RELEVANT teams have ups and downs. BAYLOR is always down because they're Baylor.

By the way, if you noticed, your halftime show at the football game consisted of a fake UT guy getting ridiculed then ripping his orange shirt and revealing his green and gold. Yes, your that pathetic that you're still celebrating a win from 2 weeks ago against an awful Texas team. Not dorky at all, huh?

But I digress. I posted several times in this thread in a respectful manner in response to specific issues (the probation, the recruiting mysteries, Lace's thug ass girlfriend-beating antics). We don't care about you. You are just another game on our schedule. Apparently I made a mistake by thinking Baylor fans grew up a little after having some success on the basketball court, but it turns out you guys have no clue how to handle a little success and you get all excited and think you're important now. you're not. Sorry if it irked you so much Mr. Madmax that I posted in your Baylor thread. Go to the numerous UT threads, I posted more in them than here. Go check out the response. Nothing but class and respect. They understand what a friendly rivalry is, and they understand that anyone is free to give their input on their team, and we have a regular old sport discussion. Apparently it's not the same way with you clowns. That's why I'm done with this thread, and please accept my apology for giving you the impression that I give 2 $h!ts about you or your $h!t University in the middle of nowhere.

Honestly, just judging by posts, it would appear you care less for Aggie sports than you do for Baylor. All summer long...and no discussion about Ag basketball...but you're here all the time talking Baylor hoops.

I'll be watching, if only for the Mizzou-created Fran Fraschilla drinking game. In all seriousness, should be a good game - with Lace out, I'm guessing Perry should get a lot of touches. Interested to see how "ready" he is.

 

Its funny to see an Aggie here thinking that Texas has a "rivalry" with them. If Texas fans really cared, they could make the same basic post about A&M as he did about Baylor. Texas would change to OU. A&M would change to Texas. Baylor would change to A&M. Throwing stuff on a court would be changed to corps members flashing swords at UT cheerleaders. Not booing when players are injured would change to a reference of Aggies chanting "Cart McCry" after a late hit on Colt. On and on and on.

Since they are having such a bad year at football, and all the fans are leaving early, the Horns also have a promotion going now where you can actually shake hands with a current student to give you a better connection to the university if you stay at the game into the fourth quarter.

Back to the topic .. Baylor is without a doubt a rival for A&M, and so is Texas. All talk otherwise is ... well .. "rivalry talk"

Baylor is going to be good this year, but lets see how well they put it together. Basketball requires a lot of teamwork and they lost some real glue guys in the offseason (just like A&M).

 

agreed...Tweety made things go for us last season. will be interesting to see how they come together. i'm pumped about seeing Perry play.
