I do care. But the Rockets have completely captivated me. Not hard to realize I may never witness this again. Its a testament to what the Rockets have accomplished, not a knock on the Ags.
A&M is playing in the Big XII tournament to solidify a good seed in the tourney and the Rockets were playing a terrible Charlotte team. I think deep down you are rooting against A&M because you want so hard to be right about Turgeon. By the way ... BCG's team looked terrible today against a bad Georgia team. Inconsistency like that must fall squarely on the coaches shoulders.
Kentucky was done when Patterson went down. A player that wouldn't even be at Kentucky if BCG didn't go there. You think deep down I am rooting against TAMU? What the hell? You don't even know me. Don't tell me what I am thinking deep down. Are you kidding me? A terrible Charlotte team? I don't care if the win came against Ouachita Baptist (oh wait) its 21 wins in a row. 2nd best streak ever. The city is alive. The feeling is almost tangible. Of course I want TAMU to win. Of course I want to be wrong about Turgeon. Of course I want to beat Kansas.
Looking assertive and balanced on offense. Can't praise Davis enough. But on defense... Wow. Kansas gets everything so easy. Gotta get that physicality and toughness back. Especially in the paint.
I haven't watched my Aggies too much this year because their games don't come on tv much here. So with my limited viewing sample, I'd just like to note that no matter who the coach is, they would still be a mediocre team because their guards have sup par ball handling skills, sub par passing skills and sub par awareness. Their collective awareness would be like a 65 on the NBA Live/2K series. It's obvious that Acie Law made such a huge difference for this team. As for coaching, it's not so bad in my opinion (as far as this game is going). Kansas is out executing A&M (that's a player thing)...A&M is dominating the boards (a player thing)...the set plays are having limited success for both teams. The only major coaching thing I can see is that there is no reverse action going on for A&M. Kansas is totally over playing the passes and all A&M does is stupidly turn it over. Run some successful reverse action and it should help out the guards on their pressure. Edit: And what the heck is their PnR defense? I understand a hard show (to prevent ball handler penetration) and recover, or a trap and rotate, but the bigs extend past a hard show but not a trap...it's like freakin no man land. So while it does prevent dribble penetration, it doesn't force a tough trapped pass to the perimeter...instead there's a clear passing lane to a crashing a big for Aggie opponents. That doesn't make any sense at all. It can't be the game plan...perhaps the players don't have the defensive recognition yet or never will have it. Seriously. Go Aggies. Last play Defense here we go. Either trap hard to force the dribbler to make a tough pass or quick show and recover fast. Don't get stuck in no mans land again. Please.
That was disappointing. Trailing by two in the final minute, the ideal scenario would be anything besides escorting a guard directly to the rim for an uncontested layup to seal it.
Well, valiant effort by the Aggies, but it's clear that these guys don't have the collective basketball IQ and skill needed to go deep. The last defensive possession was actually pretty decent. Davis was just slow on the last pick...he neither trapped, nor showed, nor anything...he tried....he was just slow. Hopefully they'll get better in the tourney.
Could have done a few things better, but we were within 2 in the last minute to a team that has a great shot at getting a 1 seed. Also, the game was a virtual road game. Not too shabby and good for our confidence going into the tourney.
Sorry. Thought you were questioning my fan hood. Am I the only one who cringes when we need a bucket? Because it always entails us bringing the ball out 40ft and sitting on it like an egg while the motion goes to work. Nobody ever gets open. Just scrap it already.
During the Big XII tourney, this team showed that it can play with anybody. This team needs to learn to do the little things better (like cutting down on TOs and creating shot opps). This team is improving, and could make a little noise in the NCAA. I predict that we will win one game. If the stars all align, we could make it to the sweet 16...but I don't think any amount of luck will get us further than that.
Yeah offensively we just don't really have anyone that can create shots and the passing is just awful by out guards. Don't know how many lazy passes we threw last night that caused TOs.
From all accounts and what i've seen, the Ags still have a hell of a time trying to defend the pick and rolls/ high screens, etc. They look lost in those situations, and that's exactly what happened when they were down two and KU drove through the lane for an easy lay up at the end of the game.
I think we are in perhaps the hardest position possible in the bracket. I picked UCLA to win it all. And BYU can play.
Yeah its going to be tough, but lucky me, I live in SoCal so I will be there rooting on the Aggies. I got 2 tickets to all the games in Anaheim for only $125 so it was a pretty good deal. I think it'll be fun to check out BCG's first tourney game with KY in the morning on Thursday. If we can get past BYU, UCLA will be very tough. If the Ags decide they want to play basketball that day (ala the Texas Tech game) and UCLA has an off shooting night ... well ... anything can happen right?
