If this is the case then we HAVE to get it done. This is a coach that will actually want to stay at TAMU. Pay the guy. Lets see what he can build. Its embarrassing to me that Marquette can outbid a 40,000+, Big12, PUF school.

This penny pinching crap is beneath Texas A&M.

Yeah well the Athletic department pissed away a lot of money and put them in serious debt. They have turned it around but not enough to pay a bball coach $3M. Guess we are going to pay now for previous stupidity.

We should be in better shape in 2 years when the new TV deals kick in, but hopefully the bball program isnt totally in the tank by then

What happened? A school of TAMU's stature should be able to piss away money and still be fine. I want top notch football facilities too. They still practice in that bubble type thing?

Well Turgeon, you really sent us down shiat creek this time, didn't you? And I agree with Ziggy....it's ****ing embarrassing that we can't pry a coach away from MARQUETTE. We're one of the biggest schools in the nation, and we're sitting here scrambling around trying to find coaches from XYZ State because we don't have the money?? With our alumni network and brand, we should NEVER have financial issues.....what a joke.

Yep ... It is a joke how badly mismanaged that department was for so long.

I'd still rather have Kennedy than Sadler though. Either way, it looks like we are in deep trouble.

It's not a financial issue. It's simply absurd to pay the basketball coach more than the freaking football coach.. Tugeon was in the top 10 coaches in terms of salary after the raise, and he wasn't even close to being a top 10 coach in the nation.

He's a scumbag and a fraud who rode Billy's coattails and couldn't coach a freaking offense to save his life. Glad we got rid of that whining low life. But it's not outrageous at all to refuse to pay Buzz Williams nearly 3 million dollars.

So looking into it more, Kennedy runs an up-tempo offense with an in your face defense. Would be nice to see any semblance of a real offense on the floor.

Good news(?) or semi-good news on one front. Jordan Green and Jamal Branch are staying at A&M.

I'm fine with not paying Turgeon. But the fact that we're probably down to the 5th or 6th guy on Byrne's list of circle-j buddies because we cant scrounge up a competitive rate is a JOKE. This is Texas A&M for crying out loud.

Everyone thinks Byrne's list is so cool, that he's ready for this at all times. I think it blows that we're not going after guys outside his circle, guys like Reggie Theus.

**** YES! Now I don't really care that Turgeon left. As long as we kept our recruits!

Yes, this was the most important thing in getting a new coach and that is a huge relief.

Turge's 2012 class looked to be in terrible shape and I really don't mind him leaving if we can get someone in that can recruit a little bit. Someone that doesn't whine and b**** about the fan base and can encourage a better flow on offense would do wonders for attendance as well.

Anyone else get the feeling Byrne doesn't actually interview anyone? Seems like he just picks who he wants based on their resume and goes after them.
