Not having an intelligent point guard is destroying this team. There is no flow on offense whatsoever, and when defenses sag on Middleton, there isn't anybody else who can pick up the slack. Holmes and Dash are one-way players (albeit opposite sides), and that isn't going to cut it when you're playing teams who can lock you down when they need to.
I agree with you here. That said, I like what I saw in moments of this last game. Turgeon has seemed to stop using the Dash/Holmes combo. Thank goodness. You can't have that lack of size back there unless they're both special, and they aren't. So it's going to be either Holmes or Dash at the PG from here on out, I hope, and that SHOULD help.
Huge comeback win on the road ... This team needed that in the worst way ... Dash also still needs to find the bench
I really wish we had a single ****ing big man on the roster. 0 centers 1 PF and 6 guards can only take a team so far.
I disagree ... In college, guards are what take you far and we are fine up front. There are a few teams like Texas that give us fits, but we usually dominate the glass. The guards are actually the glaring weakness on this team, especially Dash. Where are you getting 1 PF from any way? What about Lobeau, Roberson, Turner, And Davis?
I am a Colorado fan, not an Aggie fan, why else would I have been upset? A&M won Austin Dufault is our only PF and there are no centers on the roster right now with Harri-Tunks out for the year Thats why were are 129th in rebounding
Lol ... Aggie fans have been complaining a lit lately especially after ugly wins like yesterday But yes you guys are seriously lacking big men
Well, to be fair, the confusion is fair. The majority of us live in Texas, and to us, "WE" usually implies the local team. Plus, we are in the Aggie BBall thread, so again, "WE" usually implies the Ags. But yes, you guys (CU) definitely lack big men.
OK ... So who is the next coach? Appears that Turge doesn't want to be here and most Aggie fans are growing tired of his whining. I don't see him lasting past this offseason.
I heard there was some controversy over his postgame press conference, but never was able to find what he said?
On the way out of the stadium, on the live TV interview, he said "We played bad, the building was bad". I don't have a huge problem with that except for he is constantly complaining about attendance, and our attendance has not actually been horrible. Yesterday was bad, but a Wednesday night in College Station against the last place team and playing as bad as the Ags have lately is going to bring in a smaller crowd. We are not Duke, UNC, KU, or UK. They then asked him what he thought about becoming the second winningest coach in A&M history and he basically said (Paraphrasing) "Well that means we don't have much of a history. Shelby has the most by far and I wont be here long enough to top him". There is no need for that type of talk on live TV. All it does is hurt recruiting, alienate the fan base, and hurt the program overall. This is still a growing fan base. I'm not sure if he realizes how bad we were for so long before we had any facilities/resources at all. It takes time. If he doesn't want to be here, see ya.
What a douchebag thing to say. Seriously, if you're an incoming freshman, what would make you want to play for a guy who says that?? A&M isn't a basketball factory like KU, Duke, UK, or even Texas. We've been bad for SUCH a long time, and now that we're finally on the map, it seems like he's kind of taking it for granted that fans are just going to show up. College Station has, and always will be, a football town, but I think the fanbase has done a good job of supporting the team. Of course there are going to lulls in attendance when you're playing crap basketball the way the Aggies have lately, but the way to remedy that is by getting the guys FOCUSED. Lashing out at the media and the fans is the last thing to do.
So I guess he is backpedaling today and tweeting saying he didn't mean it that way. I can believe that and believe that he was essentially saying that Shelby did so good, but the way he said it came across totally wrong as he definitely was upset with the attendance last night. Even the announcers were laughing and saying "Can you be too honest in an interview!?!" because they took it the way most of us did. And as we all know, perception is reality, and that video is going to be shown by Baylor, Texas, OU, and LSU when we are fighting for recruits to point out that Turgeon doesn't even want to be here.
I can't see him saying all those things and meaning it. Maybe he was mad, or maybe it did come off the wrong way. Either way, maybe 1 or 2 better job openings are out there for him. The big boys don't want him. He is where he belongs. If he did mean that stuff maybe he's been hanging around Scottie Pippen too much.
