Well I think it was a great season for Aggie Basketball. We lost 3 major players from last season, and we got a lot of experience for some new guys this year. To work our way into the NCAAs and win a game for the 4th straight year this season is a big success if you ask me.

Next season, we'll lose 1 major player, but guys like Dash and Labeau will be that much better in their soph season with some senior leadership in Elonu, Davis, and Sloan. Got a good class of fish coming in as well so hopefully they'll come along strong and play a big role in next season. I think we can and definitely should be much better next year. Can hardly wait!

Is it too much to ask for both sides to be good next year? I really hope the team can get to the next level.

That would be the grave they've dug for him in Lexington right? ;)

Actually my team is facing the Dukie Dukes later tonight. Hopefully they don't succumb to the same fate as the Aggies.

This game is terrible, I'm switching between this game and an NBA game and it's like watching special olympics.

He's not rolling in his grave. He's busy trying to coach his way through the NIT. You know, the Not Invited Tournament.

Ya but I bet his coaching staff could play better defense than the Ags did today. Or umm yesterday.

now that anger and disappointment aren't as dominant and the loss has settled in, I can finally analyze this game objectively..

I think we panicked against the clearly superior UConn.. leaving Adrien wide open time after time after time and him hitting 100% of his wide open shots got us confused on defense.. On offense, we were intimidated by Thabeet at first and I absolutely LOVE Turg's game plan of attacking him early, because even though we screwed up the first 5 minutes of the game, our offense ran relatively smooth and we had no problem scoring inside.. J-Carter was having an off game, and Holmes wasn't a good fit in this game because they can take advantage of this matchup.. they jumped on us early, we were scared to death, we got back on track, but everytime we tried to go on a run, Price and Adrien shut us up whether it be insane 3's by Price of wide open J's by Adrien..

I'm proud of our team, really really proud.. we didn't give up despite the fact that we got spanked.. I might get flamed for this, but I think Turg is one of the best coaches in basketball right now, he is insanely underrated.. hell, I don't even think coach K would be able to get out of the current squad what Turgeon has gotten out.. the defense is a glaring weakness, but the way we systematically broke the back court traps against BYU and the amazing smooth flow of the offense when BYU went to the 3-2 zone all point to 1 thing: Turgeon has our basketball team ready, and his game plan/preparation is unmatched..

good season though ags, I thoroughly enjoyed screaming my lungs out at every game..I can only hope that the recruitment class for next year indeed delivers so we could go to the next level..

until then, stay cool & gig 'em

Whats up with guys declaring? They think if you start at TAMU you can go pro or something? Its stupid, ever since Martellus Bennett declared we get at least 1 player declaring with no agent per year. You don't see droves of players at other schools doing this. It looks idiotic.

Turgeon encourages all guys who have a shot to go to the NBA after their senior year to declare after their Junior year so they can get the workouts in and get a feel for what they need to improve on. Carter did it last year on Turge's advice and it makes sense to me.

Don't worry ... Davis, Sloan, and Elonu are coming back.

Oh I know they are coming back. But you don't see other teams letting players do this on a regular basis. Just send those guys to Houston to workout with John Lucas. I just think it looks stupid.

Okay thank God!!! The NBA is changing the rules so the Aggies can stop doing this absurd looking tactic. Players have to decide earlier AND will no longer be allowed back to school if they go undrafted. There you go Turgeon, NBA doing your job for ya.

Get over it. There is nothing wrong with a guy declaring, going through workouts and seeing where he is in regard to his NBA future.

It looks absurd? Who cares? Maybe you should be less concerned about how it looks and more concerned with winning games. That is what Turge is doing. Just because it isn't what BCG would do doesn't make it wrong.

And I don't have to like it. I hate it. NBA has taken care of it because it does look absurd, its a joke. Way to go NBA. Donald Sloan going through workouts, please... Turge should have the kids focused on Aggie basketball and concentrating on finals.

    1. If the NBA saw the need for a rule change, that indicates it isn't just Turge doing it.

    2. Concentrated on Aggie basketball? They aren't even allowed to practice right now. How do you expect them to focus on a sport where their new teammates aren't there yet and they can't practice?

Its just been a big pet peeve of mine for awhile. Ever since Bennett did it really. Why did he do it? As a prank? To be funny? Its pathetic. Donald Sloan getting drafted? Also pathetic.

I have no problem with it. At Texas, Barnes has been honest with his players about going through the process as well, and is openly approving of them leaving early if they are sure lottery picks. Think about it this way- people go to college to open up doors and opportunities that will better their future. For some, this is getting a degree. For others, this is pursuing athletics. (Degree will be there later if they want to come back to finish.) The best ways for players to know if they are prepared or not is to get out in the camps and compete with the best competition out there. Furthermore, just going through the process helps with the adjustment to the camps, the interviews, etc. when they are leaving school "for real," be it early or after graduating.

If you don't like it, that's fine. I just have no problem with it at all.

If PJ Tucker does it his junior year that makes sense to me. But the Aggies that do it have no chance. The NBA fixed the problem, nuisance averted.
