haha ... as far as the selection committee is concerned, it was neutral Tonights loss had nothing to do with the neutral/road site. It had everything to do with overconfidence and immaturity
And another Raider going ape crap on us. Andre Emmett did it, Jerrius Jackson did, someone else will do it next year.
DAMN. Must suck to be a someone who's a Rockets and Aggie fan tonight! Luckily I'm a Longhorns fan and Dexter Pittman completely destroyed Colorado's front court. What a 2nd half by Singletary. But they said A&M is a lock for a reason. There'd have to be multiple teams winning conference championships they had no business winning for A&M to be kicked out. BUT, your seed drops below 10 because of this. As for not winning a road game, the Nebraska game is what saved your team. I really like Josh Carter and would draft him if available. He's an upgrade to Von Wafer I believe.
Still ticked off about the loss yesterday, but looking back at it as long as they stay in the tourney it may be a blessing in disguise for a few reasons ... 1) Josh Carter has more time to heal, and we need him in the dance. 2) We will probably be a 10-11 seed instead of an 8-9 seed. Much easier to get to the sweet 16 without having to play the 1 seed in the 2nd round. Of course its harder to get to the 2nd round, but I'd take my chances there.
My thoughts exactly. You have to roll with the punches and accept what you have. This does give Josh a lot of time to heal that ankle, and honestly, we are a lower tier top 25 team that is actually a few points away from being that in reality. We can take on a 7 or 6 seed, and I would much rather have a 2 or 3 seed over a 1. I just worry about our state of mind. I hope they can go to the tourney and accept what has happened and prove the nation wrong.
so what we were hoping for didn't happen .. at #9, we're playing a mediocre BYU team, and if we indeed beat them, UConn awaits us for an ass-whooping.. Why!? why didn't we drop to an 11 or 12 seed? t.u isn't much better, they play Minnesota, then Duke awaits them in the 2nd round.. now if we somehow luck out and get past UConn, then, well, I will J in my pants at first then be extremely happy with our chances to go deep, really deep..
I'm happy with playing BYU as I definitely think they are beatable. 2nd round could have been nicer, but I'm happy we have a great shot at getting the 2nd round, and I think we can give UConn a great game like we gave UCLA in Anaheim last year. Can't wait for the tourney to start!!!!
UConn isn't all that it is cracked up to be if you have watched them over the course of the season. If we play hard down low (it would be nice if we had a player like Blair of Pitt, but we can make do with Davis and Elonu) we stand a good chance at having a good game if we have some good outside shooting.
I agree. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see A&M go right down to the wire with UConn -- I think that's as good of a matchup as you can hope for going against a top seed.
I dont have them in my Final Four...but is it possible you feel that way because nearly every night you play in the Big East you're playing another solid team? UConn is pretty damn strong. I'll be surprised if A&M gets past BYU. I think it's the easiest of the 8/9 matchups to pick, actually.
Have you honestly watched BYU play this year to be able to say that. They are not a bad team, but being in the MWC, they are rarely if ever on TV. I see them out here in San Diego because of the Aztecs. They are a decent team, but if both teams play their best, A&M is going to win. That said, BYU is much more consistent than A&M so that plays into their favor, but they certainly are no world-beaters. I think this has to be one of the toughest 8-9 games in my opinion simply because of A&M's inconsistency.
I've seen BYU at least 2x this season. And I've read about them all season long as a team people overlook. And no, my thoughts aren't Aggie hate. I'm not the anti-Hank or something. I find myself pulling for the Ags everytime they make the tourney.
I see your point, but no, that is not why I have my certain opinion. I have watched UConn play, and I think that Thabeet isn't strong enough to dominate against A&M in the tournament. We go against the likes of Blake Griffin and Dexter Pittman, who IMO are much stronger (granted they don't have the post up ability) and we fair very well against them. Simply put, A&M fairs well against teams that rely on the down low game. I know that they have athleticism in the back court, but we match up well with it. Now with a team like Memphis, I would be worried about their athletic ability. As for BYU, I really haven't watched them play, but from what I read, they shouldn't be that hard.
No sorry I'm not calling you out like that, I was just curious as to your reasoning as most people really can't watch BYU because the MWC has such a horrendous TV deal that puts them on CSTV and not ESPN. I've seen them alot this season and I think they are a decent team and certainly capable of winning, but I think they are going to have a tough time at it without having as much depth. That said, A&M just lost to Tech and we are more than capable of getting blown out by BYU. I think that if both teams are on their game, its A&Ms to lose.
BYU: 18th in Pomeroy ratings, 22nd in adjusted offense, 23rd in adjusted defense A&M: 52nd in Pomeroy ratings, 36th in adjusted offense, 78th in adjusted defense. Looks more like a 6-11 matchup than an 8-9 matchup.
agreed. but i'd be fine with being wrong...i don't know think either team would play with UConn, aggie fans' feelings on the topic, notwithstanding.
TAMU has a much better shot at Uconn. BYU just isn't big or physical enough. Physicality is always their problem. But I do think BYU will take care of TAMU so it doesn't matter.
