I don't think it was unexpected at all. If you look at A&M's games this season we have been in almost every game, and twice had a great shot at beating OU. The only game we were really out of was the KU game. Texas has been playing terrible so if we played our game, we should have won this game. That said, its a long way to go to making the NCAA's, but if you look at the schedule, there is a VERY real chance this team is 8-7 going into that last game of the season against Mizzou. I think 9-7 with wins agains Mizzou, Texas, LSU, and AZ might be enough to get us in with a Big XII tourney win. Its a long road to go and we've wasted so many opportunities, but it aint over yet.
was at the game today, BY FAR the greatest experience in a sports event I've heard had.. heck, it could be the best experience EVER in my life (shut up perverts) Reed Arena was rockin, Davis was owning, and the whole team was freaking amazing, just harmonic, artistic, joyous.. up until we hit the choke wall up 19 with 14 minutes left.. we didn't score a single field goal until the 7 minutes mark, and the fans were starting to get restless after the 19 point margin became 5, and at one point 3 (IIRC).. Davis had an amazing spin move in the first half splitting 2 defenders and slamming it home.. Then Elonu rocked the rim on that one play that got everyone out of their seats (oh wait, we were already standing) it is my opinion that Sloan is a total stud, clutchness to the extreme, and has this one "dribble behind the back crossover" and quick shot that work every single damn time despite the fact that the defender totally expects it.. what a badass Donald Sloan.. the post game war hymn was freaking sweet.. highlight of the game was the president Elsa Murano throwing up a "horns down" hand gesture on the big screen.. sorry for the random discombobulated post, but this was my first ever TU game.. it was unbelievably exciting.. maybe a little too exciting considering the fact that I lost my voice.. clips of AC Law draining that 3 brought back the memories and had everyone cheering wildly.. post game war hymn was the best I've ever witnessed.. GOD I'M GLAD I GO HERE!
TAMU/UT home and home split was def expected. Expect it every year. Allright call it now. TAMU, in or not? I say not.
after the Texas (and OU game, to an extent) I don't really see how it's that hard..if take care of business on the road against the 2 crappy teams (which is sort of easier said than done, but it's definitely feasible) and destroy Iowa state at home, we could lose to Nebraska at their place, and then the main even will be Mizzou at home, which, given recent signs,we should be able to compete.. now I'm not sure how things have to work out for teams above us in terms of their schedule, but I just really want us to go undefeated the rest of the way (with the exception of the Nebraska game on the road), and then if things don't work out (ie: we don't make it), we would still have gone out with a fight..
I agree. You can't make it with an OK non-conference schedule and a sub-.500 conference record. NIT bound.
With the way we have been playing of late, I would have to say in. Sure the odds aren't great, but you have got to have faith that the team that showed up against texas is going to show up for the rest of the season. It simply rests in the complexity that is our free throw shooting. If you note, in games where we shoot over 80%, we pretty much win. We are a physical team and make other teams play with more severity, and if we can translate that into made free throws, we stand a good chance. I think we stack up well against Mizzou and Sloan picking up his game to the level that he has, we look good. With Carter staying in his place as a simple role player (picking up offensive rebounds as well as staying clutch on defense) and BJ staying as hot as he is behind the 3 point line (note: the in-and-out offense of late looks similar to a Rockets style approach) then we have a shot. Simply: have faith. I was at the game on Monday night and saw first hand what the team can do when running on all cylinders. That level of play is what can carry us through the rest of the season.
I think that is a given ... however if you look at the schedule 8-8 is very realistic and 9-7 is a possibility if they can pull one out against Mizzou. I think 9-7 with a win against Mizzou gets you into the tourney with 1 conference tourney win ... 8-8 gets you in with 2 conference tourney wins just like last year. Its far from over with games against Nebraska, Iowa State, Colorado, and Texas Tech left on the schedule.
Well that's a little sassy, wouldn't ya say? And actually, we have showed up against teams like OU, Arizona, and K-State. So, before you go off bashing a team you probably know very little about, take a step back, and think before you talk. Watch as we make it to the tourney this. End of story.
I wouldn't count us out yet. Hopefully we can build on the tu game. The sad part is they are still better than our football team. .. a little part of me died while typing that. Co'07
Looks like we picked up another big recruit for next season. This guy looks like he has some real potential ... http://www.centercourtbasketball.com/ccbtv/jadams.html Next year's incoming class might just be the best incoming class we've had. With Jamal Branch coming in a few years after that the future can be very bright if we can find a way to get a few decent bigs next year.
Another highly sought after recruit. This is getting weird... If we could just go get a good big man now.
Ugly game today and the FT shooting was atrocious, but it was a huge W for the Ags considering how we usually play in Lubbock. Take care of business in Nebraska on Tuesday and this could get real interesting.
Someone post Sloan's dunk. Geeeeeeeez! Looked liked Steve Francis circa a long time ago. EDIT: realize now it was Harris... WOW, even crazier. Got caught up in flipping between the Rockets
**** Yeah baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you to Neb for fouling us and allowing us to reset and take the ball out of bounds at midcourt!!!
