I'm hoping they are just playing to the level of there competition. Granted I have not been able to watch many of their games though.
Let's just say I've still got that bad feeling after the OSU game today. I think these guys can get it together, but I'm not sure it'll happen in time for this season. We have too many possessions where we just look absolutely lost on offense. And Josh Carter better start stepping up.
The problem against OSU can be summed up in two comments: 1. The Ags HAVE to be more careful with the ball. WAY too many turnovers. 2. Josh Carter has to be involved in the offense. He is too good an outside shooter to not have him involved.
Big game against KU tonight. Our schedule is ridiculous to start the season so this would be a huge win if they could somehow make it happen. Although unlikely to win in Lawrence, this seems to be a year they are susceptible. Luckily the last 6 games of the year are not too bad so we still have a chance to dig ourselves out of a hole if we falter over these next few games. Edit: Well if we can't even get a shot up its over! Oh well ... maybe next game
Well, I am pretty sure TAMU was the only Big12 South team to ever beat Kansas at home so our chances were never looking that great. Kansas is still a good team. Its just not TAMU's year, last year I believe we went .500 in conference and made the tourney. I am not sure that will be the case this year. TAMU is just too inconsistent within the game. Next year could be huge assuming those 3 recruits do come.
Turge has done a great job of recruiting. The only thing we lack is a bona fide big man. Turge himself identified the problem last night. He said that the team does not communicate while on offense and turns the ball over way too much. If they cannot correct that, we are sunk.
Still too early to say that for MBB. The women's team looks like they can make a deep run this year. Also, the Ags came out as the preseason #1 nationally in College Baseball if you consider that part of all sports.
Honestly I think we are going start out the season 1-4 in conference, but I think we'll work our way back to 9-7 or 8-8. NCAA vs. NIT is going to depend on if we can pull out a signature win or two along the way either in conference play or in the Big XII tourney.
ESPN's bracketology has predicted A&M to be one of the last 4 teams to miss the NCAA. Too early to tell. If the Aggies can correct their offensive woes and cut down on the turnovers, they can make a run.
Anyone have a link to the OU/TAMU game tonight? Big game. Potentially... It would put us ahead of Baylor for a shot at the final Big 12 bracket slot.
Heartbreaking loss. Everything changed with the phantom foul on Elonu that sent him to the bench. Man... Could have been huge. IMO TAMU is better than Baylor, they deserve that spot. They just have to do something to prove it to everyone else. Because beating them wont be enough. Our bigs are consistent, especially with Lebeu coming on. Just need the shooting to be on at all times.
Yeah we really fell apart after that phantom foul ... Definitely can't blame the refs though. Our guys have got to be tougher than that down the stretch. We really blew a big chance to get our signature win for the season. Up 9 with 6 to go and you let OU go on a 16-1 run without much of a fight at all? Severely dissapointing since we don't have too many opportunities left for a big win with all our tough games on the front of the schedule. On a positive note, you have to like how some of the young guys are coming along. I wish Dash would learn to shoot, and honestly I wish Walkup wouldn't get any Playing Time at all until he learns to keep it all under control.
This was a heartbreaker. It all comes down to the Aggies' tendency to fall apart in crunch time. 9 points up with 6 minutes left, and then went 1 for 10, allowing OU to take the come from behind win. Inexcusable.
In other bad news ... Mizzou's win over Texas tonight just made getting to the big dance that much tougher. It will be impossible for A&M, Baylor, and Mizzou to all make the tourney IMO, and since the Ags are the lowest ranked of the 3, we have some serious work to do in those 2 upcoming games.
Apparently there is an article out there that states that BCG has his team watch TAMU games live (yup) to demonstrate how to compete. The only one who can possibly find that link is probably Hayesfan?
Here you go: http://www.kentucky.com/609/story/689414.html They don't watch live A&M games. That would be pointless. Turge is our coach. They watch games from when BCG was coach at A&M...
Does A&M have to run the regular season table and go 9-7 (23-8 overall) to make the Big Dance? I guess they'd probably need a Big 12 tourney win also. Or maybe they can do it with going 4-1 the rest of the season and winning 2 in the tourney. They have decent non-conference wins over Arizona and LSU. And they also have made it to at least the 2nd round in the NCAA tourney the last 3 years. But other than those things, they have a lot going against them this year.
