This is simply not true. Twice Yao and T-mac were both healthy - in those seasons, they didn't have the supporting cast to go anywhere. Now the cast is there. Just because T-mac is unpopular doesn't mean we should trade him away for nothing in return. Learn from history's mistakes. Rarely does trading away a superstar get you a whole lot. Philadelphia trading away Barkeley and Iverson. Miami trading away Shaq. Even LA - they got lucky with Gasol. Phoenix trading away the Matrix. More often than not, letting a star player goes leaves you with worse results. You don't do it to get better, you do it as a fiscal move and a commitment to rebuild. That's usually the best rationale. If you want to trade t-mac, that's fine, then you need to advocate trading Yao as well. And that's why I disagree with you.
So you are saying t-mac is worth 3 million and that's what we should expect in return for him? Then why is it so important to trade t-mac for a 3 million dollar player? Why not just let him walk?
They will have a pretty big off season next season. If they can crack .500 ball you just know players have their eyes on Houston this season.
This batch of players will all be free agents. I have a question if 40 million comes off the books does this mean they still have the MLE? I think you have to trade one....you can't have TWO injury prone superstars. And since Les will not be trading the money train...well.... DD
Boston Celtics . Seriously how can you even ask a question like this when the season hasn't even started. Nobody knows what his level of play is going to be. For all we know he can have a hell of a season and still be here. If not maybe he is traded before the deadline. Hell for all we know if he has that hell of a season he might be here and we FINALLY get to see the Mac and Yao dominance.
Also forget about where will T-Mac play next season. We should play who will still be on this team halfway through the season. With so many expiring contracts who knows who is staying or going. Lets play who's face will be new come February. Maybe that deserves another thread but its likely we will have a new teammate sometime during the season. Hmmmm maybe Iverson
He won't be here next season i can easily see a team taking a chance on him like Chicago. He has already moved there and not much love left for Houston.
Huh????????? Tracy's value next year could be $1 for all we care. Look, Tracy's value this year (to us and to a potential trading partner) is his $23,239,561 expiring contract. That's all. Regardless of what you think, Tracy isn't seen as the "missing piece" for a championship or even to take a team to that next step. On that note, I have a question for you and others. If Tracy and his 22-5-5 is so valuable, how come we've never heard ANY trade rumors involving Tracy before? Kind of odd right. We've heard trade rumors throughout the years for Kobe, KG, Ray Allen, Paul Pierce, and a slew of other big name players which means that other teams obviously wanted their services. Not Tracy though. From his stint with Orlando to now with the Rockets...we've only heard about Chicago maybe trying to sign him as a free agent years ago (needed a big name at the time) and a potential(?) Detroit trade last year which would have been a pure salary dump for Detroit if done. A rumor is a rumor but they still tell you that your services are wanted and needed. I think you guys overvalue Tracy and his impact in the NBA due to being fans of his ( in a lot of cases not even the Rockets) and wanting to see the "underdog" come out on top. But the reality is GM's, coaches, even players talk (not just look at stats) and Tracy has given everyone a lot to talk about over the last 9 years. His reputation around the league has never been a great one (without going into detail, please believe me on this one). His services aren't nearly as valued as you think they are. If Tracy gets signed next summer, the deal will be more in the Allen Iverson ($3-4mil) range than a Joe Johnson range ($16+mil). If it comes down to an AI type deal, I think Tracy will call it quits.
They need to just let him come off the books unless the package is better then Hinrich, Miller and Salmons for Tracy and Landry. I would not mind having Hinrich along with Battier, Ariza and Hayes we would be even better defensively. I've seen Hinrich give Wade and Pierce off nights and shut them down in crunch time even for his size. And with this system i can easily see him turning to a younger Bibby type player as his contract will only increase in value. On that list i don't see any point guards worth upgrading beyond Rondo and Nash and only New York and Cleveland have more space as they could end up in Miami just as much as stay with their current team. Miller comes off the books and is familiar with Adelman basketball atleast for this season. Salmons is a beast at the expense of Landry and can still opt out. Would you pull the trigger? I really believe that is where he will end up either or if not then resigned.
What you talking about? The Knicks this off season tried to sign Grant Hill and Jason Kidd, which if you round off thier age would be 40. The Grizz signed A.I this summer also. How is that wanting young and talented players? And plus T Mac isn't that old at 30.
I think you are overvaluing an expiring contract. The only thing you can get in return is a long-term contract player from a poorer team looking to dump salary. That's a prayer my friend, a prayer. You guys think Paul Gasol deals happen every year. They don't. They are once a decade type situation when someone gets fleeced that way.
First off my s/n is T-Slack and not whatever. How did I hate on a quitter when all I said was let guess where the slacker where play next season, seeing that there was rumors of the Rockets trying to trade him the last two seasons. Its your opinion if you think this hating needs to stop. That doesn't mean its gonna stop. Let me give you a list why some people might hate on the Slacker. 1. He quit on his team when he was with the Magic 2. Never led the Rockets to a playoff win 3.During 05-06 playoffs he said it was his team and it was on him if the rockets don't win in the first round. After they loss he turned around and said it wasn't on him. 4. Last season he came to camp out of shape(hints my s/n) and had all off season to rehab is knee and shoulder and didn't. He might of cost us the championship last season. Yeah I said it. 5. Now that he is coming in his contract year he made a website of videos showing him doing his rehab to show how he's trying hard. He should of done that last offseason. There more to this. SO DON'T TELL ME TO "STOP HATING". IF I WANT TO HATE ON A QUITTER I WILL!!!!!!!!!!
I think it's the other way around it was teams making moves for Tracy not the organization looking to trade him. Not once have i heard about Houston looking to trade him all the rumors come from teams looking to make moves for him.
