http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3736322 NEW YORK -- Stephon Marbury was sent into limbo Monday, told to stay away from the New York Knicks until they can determine a way to get rid of him. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3731403 Stephon Marbury has been suspended for one game and docked two games' pay by the New York Knicks, who are alleging he refused to play Wednesday night against the Detroit Pistons. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3730827 Stephon Marbury will soon either be ordered to stay home indefinitely or be released by the New York Knicks, a source told the New York Daily News. so when do we expect tracy to be suspended indefinitely by the team? or when is the team so desperately want to get rid of this cancer that a buyout is apparent? b/c that's how you treat cancers. you get rid of them.
I'd say he's on par with Marbury. The biggest difference between the two is that the Rockets' management, classy as they are, tried to keep things behind closed doors. The Knicks management made everything public. Before last season started, the Knicks told Marbury they didn't want him on the team and benched him, although he did want to play. It got to the point where he was put on the inactive list even though he was perfectly healthy. And to emphasize this point, the Knicks even activated an injured player so they wouldn't have to activate Marbury. But yes, later on, they did ask Marbury to play and he refused. I personally think he should've played, but I can see his point. Like I said, the Rockets try to keep things behind closed doors. That doesn't mean there isn't tension. Actually, not at all. I guess it was a coincidence that McGrady chose to have season ending knee surgery before the trade deadline. Unless they want to showcase him for a possible trade. B/c they knew no one wanted him at the salary he was getting.
classy or not, no organization will want to keep a cancer, esp. a team that emphasizes winning as much as houston does. only a desperate and bad team like the knicks was willing to ask marbury back to play so they can showcase him. we're NOT desperate. and only you say he's on par with mabury. if tracy is on that level, trust me, ESPN and national news would be all over it. he's easily a bigger name than marbury, and all the news of what happened last year inside the locker room came out (via fran blinebury-whether it's true or not). so yes, tracy was wrong for some of the things he did last year. but the team knew he was frustrated with his injury. and they're willing to bring him back this year. they way they're managing tracy is not the way you handle a cancer, unless the rockets are desperate.
There's no sense in buying out someone in the last year of his contract unless its at a substantial discount. Also, it wouldn't make sense for McGrady to accept anything less than his full contract amount. He needs the playing time to showcase his skills for his upcoming free agency. I'm not sure how true this statement is. There's a big difference between New York and Houston. Also, the entire Marbury drama played out in the media. That's not even remotely true to last year's McGrady's drama. Now that you mention it, they do have some remarkable similarities. Before joining Boston last year, Marbury had never been out of the first round. And McGrady has yet to play in the 2nd round. And in Feb 08, Marbury had season ending ankle surgery that was deemed unnecessary by the team. In Feb 09, McGrady had season ending knee surgery that was deemed unnecessary by the team. Like I said, remarkable similarities. I think you're confusing "willing" with "contractually obligated".
mcgrady and marbury, i never heard those 2 names being coupled together before. your logic gets me everytime wekko.
I know, right? You wouldn't think so at first, but when the information is laid out in front of you, you can't deny it.
Chicago. He has a place there and trains there. I think we may try to send him there during trade time.
send that logic to ESPN or the chron, see if they'll laugh at that logic like i just did. thanks for the joke for the day.
TMac could have a small chance to be a Knicks player according to this writer. The below is the copy written from the sport writer in c.b.c.sportlines.com. Do we want to Jeffries? Clearly, we do not want Curry. "First expiring contract to be dumped: Tracy McGrady, Rockets. Houston GM Daryl Morey probably would prefer to let this play out and benefit from McGrady's $23 million deal falling off the cap next June. Frankly, I don't think the Rockets are going to be as hopeless without Yao as most people do, but McGrady hasn't contributed much to their recent success anyway. And there will be several teams jockeying for 2010 cap space who will entertain taking on McGrady as a ploy to sell some tickets in the meantime. Primarily, I'm referring to the Knicks, who could pawn McGrady off on the fan base as an "All-Star" and help the 2010 plan at the same time. The problem is the Knicks need to subtract Eddy Curry and/or Jared Jeffries to have enough space to sign two max free agents. Can't imagine Houston taking either one."
Both are lazy as hell and both failed to advance to the 2nd round as the leader. Then again at least Marbury made it as a role player. T-Mac posts empty stats in the playoffs, and by empty stats, he gets his numbers but he fails to help his team wins.
You are talking to a guy who got 96% on a postman's exam, obviously the logic is infallable. I hear Morey had to take the same exam to be GM.
Postman? It was for the IRS as a special agent in criminal investigation. The year I took the exam, they accepted 2 people from the houston area...
LMFAO A day on clutchfans without McGrady's name not being mentioned is something i have never seen. Everything is his fault. Knock on Wood but i bet if the rockets were to lose tonight guys are gonna say its his fault. That or either trade this or this player because they suck. This is going to be a long season but a funny one here on clutchfans
His opinion is not coming out of no where. Grizz has done it before.... Look at Zach Randoph and AI. They even traded Paul Gasol for a bag of peanuts.
Hahahaha. After all the BS, someone actually answers in regards to what the thread is actually asking.
