I never thought he really needed a nickname. "Yao" sounds cool itself and it's only one syllable. No need to reinvent the wheel.

I interpreted this thread as a chance to help the Chinese fans pick a new nickname for Yao.

Obviously in America, he already has several popular and well-known nicknames (The Great Wall, The Ming Dynasty, Chairman Yao, etc.) that have nothing to do with the Little Giant.



Forget American nicknames, we're helping to come up with a Chinese nickname.

 

He already has these nicknames that I've heard many times:

Chairman Yao
The Ming Dynasty
The Great Wall
Yaozer
Wow Yao
The Dynasty
Ming The Merciless
Yao Kong
Shanghai Shake
Personally I kind of like,

The Great Tall, instead of The Great Wall

or Ming The Merciless that's a good one.

Or simply, The Dynasty, certainly nice one. The Ming Dynasty is good too.

The Great Wall isn't bad.

I guess if he was from Hong Kong instead of Shanghai, could have called him "The Dong From Hong Kong"
