Here I'm back and i would appreaciate it if you stopped calling me names....nothing you've said proves that the situation for women in iran is not better today than it was at any point in time under the shah.....the information i provided in my sources is still correct and based on facts
i love how everybody gave you a free pass on this ridiculous comment....haha i never called you any names and would appreciate the same courtesy can we say conspiracy theorist....let's deal with reality buddy while we're at it, let's learn how to spell and gain a better command of the english language
Actually you're wrong....as Jackfruit mentoined Beirut was called the Paris of the Middle East What does the attire of women have to do with anything? Iran is and has always been a conservative society. During the Revolution the millions of women who poured out into the streets more hijabs as a symbol of protest. Social mobility is better now, because of the social reforms that have been pushed through by the government in Iran. Again, you're incorrect. You're referring to vigilantes who sometimes attack protestors and if this happens, as one would expect, the police are deployed to protect the protestors....as in any society, if the protestors get violent, they are dealt with I apologize, but again you're wrong...the entire reformist party was not blacklisted, 3 reformist candidates ran for president and received a nice chunk of the vote....The Majles (Parliament) has the normal power any legislative body should have including approving nominees to the Presiden't cabinet and approving half of the nominees memebers of the Guardian Council. The Guardian Council doesn't have total veto power as you say either. They can veto a piece of legislation that comes out of Parliament and then the bill is returned back to Parliament to give them an opportunity to make changes....then when the Parliament submits the bill for approval to the Guardian Council again, if it is approved then it becomes law, if it is not then it goes to the Expediency Council, which is a neutral arbiter that helps hash out differences between the Parliament and Guardian Council and they make the final decision. So you're statement about the Guardian Council is incorrect. I'll repeat myself there are legitimate elections for every leadership position in Iran Once again, you're wrong. As I've said before, people disliking their governments is not a new thing and it's actually an international phenomenon. Now if you look at the levels of participation in Iranian elections, apathy is not a big problem. In every election that Iran has ever had at least 50% of those eligible to vote have participated and in most cases a much higher percentage has gone to the polls and most of the Iranian population is young so the apathy argument doesn't work...If they wished for their government to be overthrown or didnt view elections as being genuine or legitimate, they wouldnt participate so heavily in the electoral process
why did they give a **** you to the world community as you so eloquently put it? because they learned how to enrich uranium to a level that can be used for nuclear fuel?? the npt says every country has the right to master all aspects of the nuclear process. so why is it a frightening development when iran does it? how are they calling the world's bluff? a nuclear program is iran's right just as much as it is anybody elses....they have their facilities under international inspection and are trying to avoid a military conflict by reaching out and trying to negotiate even with the US, but the US is resisting and trying to push for a conflict (see the Seymour Hersh article and the two below) http://www.iht.com/articles/2006/04...ion/edzarif.php http://news.ft.com/cms/s/76a939b6-c5bc-11da-b675-0000779e2340.html The contempt and bias towards iran on this board is staggering
I gave you a link that proved that not only the bassijis, but the police and the riot police attacked the protesters in 1999 and 2003?.. why do you continue to ignore. secondly, in the last elections, the bassijis and the revolutionary guards voted manytimes with fake passports. hence inflating the numbers. you can blow the mollah's trupet all yopu like moron, but i've been to iran unlike you, and i know what the reality is. people despise the mollahs. most mollahs are scared to catch a taxi. thats how much people despise this animals. i pitty you.
I guess Stonig and giving woman 50% less rights then there husbands equates to freedom. not to mention if they divorce, the husband automaticly recives the kids and all the financial settelings. not to mention about the rags and chadoor there forced to wear. this guy still lives in 1979. the mollahs have no power base anymore. why is there so much prostitution and drug addicts in iran?. 60% of irans youths are dug addicts? ... you live in 1979 my creepyfloyd. i urge to actually goto iran see how the youths of iran are either unemployed or drug addicts. it's beyond-beliefe.
More Story on why islamic republic is evil. our youths believe that the goverment are making our youths drugg addicts to keep the quiet. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/9445209
This link will put my creepyfloyd and other mollah supporters to shame. see the stoning of woman. this is his woman rights. http://www.holycrimes.com/
Blazer Ben, you can spout all the inflammatory rhetoric you want and post all the propaganda you want as well, but you're ridiculous statements have proven you have no credibility. Case in point, the quote below: Then to back-up your one of your claims you then post a link to an article by the BBC....the same BBC that according to you is "paid heavily by the theocracy to keep their silence on such things." You're a joke
Oh you're sisputing my links?.. haha. you're links are all valid, but the ones i provided are propaganda. typical islamic republic supporter. keep you're head in the sand. More proof khomenie and his thugs have american blood on there hands. http://www.wnyc.org/books/56357 i also provided a link that shows how drug and prostitution are freely seen in a supposed islamic society. seriously, you're getting toasted here.
Before i finish my hands off you, had shah supposedly killed 10 thousend people in 1 day, the international community would have tore his balls off. that link you provided was a joke. i dont think anyone with half a brain believes that propaganda.
Can you reply to the links i provided. you said, there is no drug problem, i proved you wrong. you said khomenie and his regime did'nt sponser terrorisim, i proved you wrong. you said the police or noone in you're holy regim attacks demonstraters, yet i proved you wrong again, with an non-bias point of view.
are we ever gonna get a reply about this post??? when i say 'we' i'm referring to everbody that reads this thread
You bought one abloutly comical link which noone in there right mind can believe. shah killed 10 people in 1 day?.. comon, even the biggest islamic supporter cant possibly blieve such nonsense? i put about 6 links which blew all you're unrealistic claims to pieces.
