    How soon we forget...

Mobley was a good draft pick. Dickerson and junk for Steve Francis was a hell of a trade, regardless of what you think of Steve. Drafting Yao instead of Jay Williams. Signing Jim Jackson. Trading Hakeem for picks. Signing Willis. Othella was a good pick. Drafting KT where we did.

It's easy to complain, but CD's made a bunch of solid moves too. He's made some bad one's too, but he's no Elgin Baylor or Chris Mullin.

I'm sure you don't. Anything that goes right is due to Jeff Van Godly, and anything that goes wrong is still Rudy's fault.

Track record. Hard to compare playoffs in your first 2 years and immediately cleaning up cap situation with 4 straight years of lottery and personnel blunders once you can no longer ride the coattails of your Hall of Famer.

I guess we can lock the remaining trade rumors and clean up the board a little bit.

Yes, extremely difficult to compare having to REBUILD a team with stepping in after all the dirty work's been done for you.

Does that not then contradict your main pro-Rudy argument considering the fact that he inherited the roster that won the '94 championship? Gumby has atleast built this team with his own hands.

The organization has pulled off some outstanding trades/acquisitions that have meshed together well and the Mike James trade today was the latest. Not sure I can agree that the Taylor + 1st rd pick for Baker and Moochie was a very good one though. Maybe I just don't have a full grasp of the expiring contracts involved yet, but I don't see giving up a 1st round pick simply to unload Mo T's salary. Baker and Moochie couldn't be more worthless on the court so the only possible value in this deal is getting their salaries off the books faster than Mo T's would have come off. But a 1st round pick????

Just a head's up -- it's now being reported that the Rockets are only sending Mo Taylor and ARE NOT trading the 1st rounder. In fact the Spurs are sending two 1st rounders. We are actually gettinga #2 in return from the Knicks.

Strong hand of applause coming from here.

We made the PG situation livable, ditched 3 guys that were junk, gave up no contributing players, held onto this year's first rounder, improved our cap situation, got tradeable expiring contracts for next year, and only had to part with what I consider to be 3 second rounders (2006/2007 will be crap drafts if the age limit is in effect, and we should be picking in the mid 20s at that point).

    Standing ovation.

Just waive Hamilton and buy out Baker, and we're sitting pretty.

definitely been a great day for CD. great job.

thacabbage, how can you comepare rebuilding to this. i won't argue that we made some bad moves and signed some horrible contracts, but we lost hakeem, drexler, and barkley for nothing and then pippen for cato and walt. 4 hall of famers for kelvin cato and walt williams takes a while to recover from.

rudy inherited a sub-.500 team and won a title 2 and a half years later. van gundy inherited a 43 win team and, with an improved yao, won 45 games and then got tracy mcgrady and is now on pace for about 48. i used to hate jvg and have now softened greatly on that stance since he's lightened up and changed the offense and have no problem with him being the coach, but it's not like he's working miracles or is in the same situation we were in once the old guard retired.

You know in the matter of hours CD went from an:

Grade A Mike James trade (nothing more)

    to

Grade B- Factoring a terrible trade of MoT + 1st for VB + Mooch

    to

A- Learning that we are not actually giving up our 1st

    to

A+ Learning that we get a Knick 2nd to help swallow MN and Vin

Finding out at the end of the day we gave up MoT + Gaines + 2nds from 06 & 07 FOR James + Baker + Mooch + Hamilton + Knick 06 2nd. FANTASTIC JOB. That Knick 2nd alone is about = to the 2nd we gave up.

Nah, after knowing we won't throw in a first round pick, the MoT trade already became an A++ trade.

    Now, it's a alpha-omega-delta ++++++++ trade.

We Really shouldn't BLAME anyone for the EG deal. Can't you remember how excited everyone was that day and what high hopes we had? It is not fair to judge with the benefit of hindsight. That move took guts! If you dare to be great you have to take risks and if you take risks sometimes you will fail. I still give CD, the Rockets, etc. major kudos for trying something daring, even though it ended up not working out.

    CD

For how badly built this team was at the start of the season, CD has made some nice solid moves to right the ship so far.
