I've raised this issue before but if fans are really serious about bad calls going against Yao then the only solution is to boycott.

The NBA is a business. Fans bringing angry signs to games only means that there are fans willing pay money just to protest. In fact it might help the NBA if they create some controversy that fans are willing to get up set about and spend money to complain about. You might as well go protest the terrible jobs refs do in pro-wrestling.

Signs, yellow cards, emails and etc.. might make you feel better but they aren't going to create change other than getting some platitudes out of David Stern. Showing the NBA that terrible officiating hurts their bottom line though well.

How about if China boycotts the NBA or the Rockets move to strike ?

I seriously doubt they'd do it but if they trully care about Yao Ming and the integrity of the game, the Rockets should just not play until this whole matter is taken care of !! Leslie Alexander has money to spend to just back him up, make some statements or complain, just do anything to back Yao up please. So what if you loose some money, they have enough.

China should back up Yao too and boycott the whole NBA, so all the deals that were supposed to go down in the future etc, that would hit David Stern where it hurts, in his freaking pocket !!

Please do something Houston, Rockets, China..... :(

Strongly agree. For those who don't think racism is involved in sports, you are either afraid of truth or blind from truth. Racism is not only in sports, it is part of everyday life. Of course, no referees would ever confess that he/she is descriminating anyone, but you don't judge a person by his words, do you?

Totally agree. That's the only part of the game Yao lacks. If someone wants to play cheat, you play cheat too.

What a profound post by you Bloop! Unfortunately you are wrong. Read the link below , the paper was written by a couple of sharp guys from Cornell and Wharton.

I am as an American; after 7 freaking long years witnessing the rape of Yao by these NBA refs, don't need anyone to tell me it's not racially bias.

Save all the usual BS like: big men are hard to officiate, Yao is a unique player....yadi yada!!!

Some of us simply use our God given intelligence to figure things out for ourselves, others simply use their pseudo intellect and try to impress the uninformed!

here is the possibility that "Black officials call more fouls on White players and vice-versa." It is called own race bias.

Yao is getting penalized because that there are no Chinese or Asian refs.

I think all of the fans should write...

    YOU | SUCK
    ....R e Fs....

on their butt cheeks and then moon everytime the call a flop a foul! If the RPD's would initiate this I am sure many of the fans would follow.

I would say just treat Yao as an international player. What can the fans do when an Europe player got that much BS calls?
I want Rockets win it all. I want Yao get a champ ring. I hate the refs keep on doing this BS thing for years. But I don't think its something related to racism.
I'm Chinese from Hong Kong. Here we have soccer and basketball games with some foreign players. The way we treat foreign and local players is the same. When I watch the game, I don't think about their nationality or race. Just enjoy the game. I have been watching those games for two decades but never seen racism in ball games.
Perhaps I don't know what's going on in NBA. Would someone tell me if I'm wrong.

Some of you guys don't get it. It is not about whether it is true. It's about whether it will work. I definitely think the race card has a good chance to work. Look, if the NBA was 95% white and a small minority of blacks, you think the black players wouldn't use the race card to their advantage?

The first time I watched Yao was 2000. There was an international tournament called Diamond Cup held in Hong Kong featuring China, Yugoslavia and Australia as a serie of warm-up games for Olympics. (Peja and Nash were also here as I remember) That's the one and only one time I watched Yao's game in stadium.

It was funny. I checked Chinese and also NBA basketball articles so I knew Yao was already a target of NBA. So I paid very much attention to him in that tournament. However, Hong Kong fans didn't know much about Yao at that time. Guess what? Yao played quite well but most of my friends called him "big and tall stupid" due to his unusual height, thin body and seem to be sluggish style.

But I was impressed by his soft hand and height. I never seen a tall man like him could actually make shots.

Even Yao was impressive, I didn't think that he will be a franchise player of any NBA team. But I was wrong. Yao's improved so much in the next couple years. Watching Yao from a "big and tall stupid" climbing to a superstar s just amazing.

I am boycotting. I will still watch the games, but I am not paying another nickel to the corrupt NBA.
