No way is Paul Pierce available. He is a top ten talent that is 6th in the league in scoring on a high %, he is also playing defense for Doc. The problem with the Celts is Raef or Blount, redundant players that can score but are below average rebounders because they play off the low block. Now a trade that the Celts might do is SS for Raef or Blount. Any takers for that one?
are u crazy? moochie wesley would get KG or Duncan. We might need to give up lonnie baxter and/or jl3. I know its a hard deal to swallow, but that might be the kind of ballsy move we need right now.
Artest remains a better target. The Pacers want young talent and cap relief, and we can offer them Wesley, Head, and 1st rounder which is looking better every day.
Don't flame me, but after seeing TMac taken off on a stretcher the other day, I was thinking a TMac for Pierce trade might be kind of nice. Pierce is having a career year, and its not even his contract year. I would never even give this a second thought if TMac was healthy, but I regretfully feel Pierce has more left in the tank than TMac.
Since you started this thread how about you suggest who we would possibly give up to get pierce. Celts aren't currently in a rebuilding mode so why the would they accept expiring contracts and give up a top 10 talent?? The only way i see us possibly getting pierce is trading a high lottery pick in the draft next year for pierce and even then i would be hesitant based on the next rookie class if I was the celts GM.
I understand where thats coming from but I think the Rockets can make a run for Pierce without even thinking about giving up one of our two stars. We're not going to do that anyway. Now. If you are going to pry Pierce away, who now is saying he may ask for a trade if Danny Ainge does not explore one, and that he wants to play for a contender and all that, a starting selling point to even get Ainge to call back would have to start with Luther Head and Stromile Swift. That's the young talent that may get him out of his seat and then to get him to call back and start serious discussions we'd have to come at him with the two expiring contracts of Wesley and Moochie, and maybe even Andersons which isn't much but add it all together and thats a lot of cap money for them next year with two young talented players for their future. Now with that said, we'd probably have to be willing to take on Raef Lafrentz and his hellacious contract as well and maybe one of their guards, maybe that Bank's kid. But even with all that throw at them from our side, if it would be enough to net us a player of Paul Pierce's caliber, we'd be idiots not to jump on it. We're talking about a big guard or small forward who gives you 24 to 27 a night on 48% percent shooting. That's a hell of a efficient player. He'd take us right back to the top.
Well said! OP, in all sincerity, you should be shot for starting this thread. I'm not that mean, though, so just in the knee or something.
well a third scoring option doesn't get any better than Pierce. Yao Howard Tmac Pierce Alston The Spurs wouldn't want that trade to happen.
If the Celtics are gonna blow it up---and why not? they have few injuries but suck---I'd say, sure, go after Pierce; but yes, we would have to take on Raef Lafrentz's contract and trade away a lot of guys, Stro and Luther included, and probably a first rounder. And then we would have no bench to speak of. If you could send Pierce and Lafrentz to Chicago for, say, Duhon and Chandler and Luol Deng (I guess Tim Thomas' expiring contract would come into play here), then that'd be smart. Build the team around T-Mac and Yao and add pieces around them. Not gonna happen, but what the hell.
CAN WE STOP WITH THE RIDICOLOUS "TRADE BREAKDOWNS"??? you keep posting potential deals as if you worked in the front office of an NBA team.
