LOVE SJC's trade proposal, but I don't think it's realistic. But what if we were to switch Mo with Howard and Davis with ERob and Jay Williams' contract? Might be worth a shot, if it can be done. Don't know the details of JWill's buyout situation.
Bulls could have just terminated Jwill's contract without any compenstation. Don't know if another team can still do it after taking over the contract.
I really appreciate this thread, not because I agree with the trade (I do) but I am impressed with the way hikanoo49 has presented his argument and backs it up with insightful comments that do not attack people or use the ole' roll eyes smilie. I agree with losing redundent players for shorter contracts as long as the talent discrepencie isn't to bad - and in this trade it is not imo.
I think the OP is a good trade proposal for both teams, but the idea that the Bulls are going to throw in Hinrich is laughable. Unless the words "Yao" and "Ming" are involved, the Bulls are simply not going to trade Hinrich to the Rockets. You people act like Hinrich is this delighful NBA secret that only you know about from watching two, or three Bulls games last year and noticing a couple of boxscores. Don't you think the Bulls understand what an asset a pure point guard is this league? Yes, the Bulls may trade Hinrich, but they would be picking up players of a much high calibre than Mo Taylor of Clarence Freakin' Witherspoon. Come on!
As long as we're talking about trading for Chicago's overpaid power forwards, why hasn't anyone mentioned a straight up Juwan Howard/JYD swap?
Thanks smashfast! As for those of you who are asking for Chandler/Heinrich, although I agree with the intent, I dont see it making sense on the Bulls part. They can get alot more for those players. The proposal that myself and many others are suggesting is not necessarily looking to build a dream team nor is it to acquire a player w/ future potential. This suggestion is moreso geared as a short term solution to solidify our PF/backup center position in a very efficient manner while creating cap space for the future. I agree that AD is old and his best years are behind him etc. but again, as long as he produces 9 pts, 8 rebs, adn plays tough d for the next 2 years, we come out WAY ahead. I really see this as a win/win for the Rox. Lastly, PF/Centers this off season is gonna be definitely a sellers market. Guys like Camby have already gotten huge contracts and I am sure the 3rd tier type guys like the Adonal Foyles and Dalemberts will also be paid handsomely. Thus, given our limited alternatives (unless CD has something good cookin), this AD deal makes the most sense. Thanks again for all of your responses and I am looking forward to hear more of your thoughts!
Interesting idea. Their contracts are almost identical but their were a few things that I didnt like about the deal. - Howards contract (when compared to Mo) isnt too bad $5 mill a year - Howard can hit that short jumper that is very important against opponents doubling Yao which JYD can not - JYD is only 210 pounds and is too "small" to defend the PFs of the West - Antonio Davis plays both PF AND BACKUP center so we kill 2 birds with one stone. Plus, his contract is MUCH shorter when compared to JYD whose contact ends in 2008!
I say the Rox should do it. It's been way too long (since the Dave Feitl days?) since a UTEP Miner has been on the squad...
