So RA takes chance on 1/4 FT shooter? He could very well draw a play try to get the ball to Yao first, then use Tmac as a backup plan if that didn't work. But he didn't.

That has to be a stupid decsiion no matter how you spin it.

The supes commentators mentioned some reason about why Yao wasn't there at the end. I totally forgot it now. Does anyone remember what they said?

No he doesn't lose his balance at the free throw line... either Yao get fouled and the refs keep him from getting the free throw line, or it's an offensive foul on Yao, or he gets to the line and shoots without his rhythm and misses or he gets to the line and with confidence strokes down the free throws. He has been inconsistent in the fourth quarter shooting and scoring wise if you ask me but as far as free throws one of the four things happen to Yao that I have just said. Also and for a so-called superstar to have to even depend on free throws at the end on the games consistently is weak. Yao gets fouled a whole lot and they don't call it I admit and that's BS... but for every game this guy shouldn't be thinking I deserve to go to the free throw, this guy needs to man up late in games. Compare how many points Yao averages in the 4th quarter to your average superstars and you will be surprised. He misses lots of jump hooks and fade away jumpshots in the 4th this is a fact as well as him getting fouled and it not being called.

In JVG area, timeout rarely got called in that situation and ball usually ends up in Alston's hand.

That's one thing JVG didn't do well. Yao would have been clutch now if he got all those chances to grow from mistakes.

Yao was a step slow to defend high pick and pop, Thomas kept hitting those mid-long range shots.

You don't have confidence in Yao o n a night Yao shot 14/15 from the line and everybody else shot 2/11? but you have confidence in others shooting FTs?

Now please give me a break.

I must admit, the supes were killing us on the pick and roll. If Yao hit the free throw we could have faced a coast to coast situation. If he missed the free throw..........Its hard to think about Yao sometimes. I don't like making calls on his defensive implications. I know offensively its probably hard to get him the ball, not impossible like you pointed out. But defensively might have had some impact. His not particularly fast down the court either.....

LOL I love it. We were talking about FINAL SECONDS and now you're giving me examples Yao missed FT with over 1:30 to go. Yao's 85% FT shooters but he's not perfect. Of course he missed FT in the 4th quarter. If you like I can find you plenty of times where Nash/Kobe missed FT with 2 mins to go. What's the point? The examples above I gave up were Yao hit 2 FT with SECONDS to go to REGAIN the lead. Can you find others he choked at the FT line?

You forgot one thing, coast to coast is better for Rockets with 16 secs left and Rockets led by 4.

Actually you can find a lot more when Tmac missed critical FTs this season alone.

You assumed Yao COULD make 2 FT. That's not guaranteed. If he made one/none he would be on the defensive play with 3/2 point lead. Rick chose to bet on T-mac FT and our defensive group. I dont think you can say he's 100% right or wrong. It's the coach call I guess.

Give me a break what was Yao's free throw percentage alone in that fourth quarter late in that lakers game? It's not like he shot 2 free throws and missed one and I am complaining... he missed lots of free throws in the fourth quarter and we lost that game by 3 points don't try to down play that, you asked me to give you an example and I did. Not to mention with 1 second left in the game Yao missed a free throw in that lakers lost.

Really? When t-mac shot those free throws they were only up by 2, cause Durant just scored on the drive. I think. Then he misses both, Durant gets blocked, Durant misses the 3. I think that was the play. Up by 2 on a coast to coast is pretty bad. There are various defensive situations with Yao in the crunch. Maybe we should go over them in another thread. Would make an interesting read. I think Yao is great on offence but there are some cases of him defensively that we could improve AS A TEAM. Pick and Roll for one.

For the night, chances are Yao would make both FTs after hitting 14/15.

And Even if he missed one, it's not a sin to leave Yao on the court. After all Yao was +12 when he was on the court and he's the only shot blocker. Giving up jumpsers is better than giving up layups.

I bet the chance of Yao making two FTs far exceeds Seatle makes another long range shots.

Lets not even talk about Tracy's free throws but if you want to compare late in the 4th Tracy showed up big offensively when it came to scoring late Yao would have put a hook shot and bricked it like he has been doing consistently late in the fourth. Then most people will say nobody can pass him the ball right or something. You weren't saying that in quarter 1-3. It's harder for a man yao's size to do anything big late in games and he has been struggling it's simple as that.

We were talking about Yao got the ball and shot FTs, aren't we? Assuming he made both, it's a 4 point games, and coast to coast is not a bad thing for Rockets at all.

It just sounds you didnt' watch the game or you didn't even know the situation.

This is not the time for Yao to score in low post or whatsoever, it's design a play to get him the ball and go to FT line. He is the best FT shooter BY FAR.
If you can't see this big picture and just try to make all kinds of excuses, assumptions, then nothing can be said. And result prooved RA was wrong, as expected.

Catch 22 really. Assuming he made the free throws. I thought when he got the free throws before in the last couple of games he would be automatic in clutch. Actually i am quite disappointed in Mcgrady myself, he needed to hit just 1. Oh well s*** happens

Not catch 22. The chance of Yao making both FT is much better than Seatle makes another long range shots.

If Yao is a Shaq like FT shooter, then you get catch 22.

At that particular laker game, he's 5 of 9 with the intentional miss on the last one. That made it 5 of 8 or 62.5%. T-mac season's avg is 68.6%. So when Yao "choked" on the line, he's BARELY worse than T-mac "normal" performance. So your point is?
