Ha ha, I just saw a positive on the postgame... they cut away to Kenny live at Tribecca Lounge and Kenny said, "Charles, I have somebody here with a message for you... it's a message you'll remember!" Then we pan over to MARIO ****ING ELLIE and he blows Chuck the kiss of death!! Ha ha, man, that was great to see. We were GOOD, I'm tellin' ya!
Also, how about Chuck Hayes? He continues to play well. I don't care if it was agains the second string...he still puts up quality minutes. Stats from tonight: 6 pts (3-7 shooting), 7 reb, 1 stl, 1 blk in 17 minutes! That's just NOT BAD for consistency for a rookie! I'm liking this guy! And nights like tonight just give him more time to gain experience! (Now, please not more of these games for the rest of the year--humiliating games, that is.)
I agree. Looking back at this game, I think our lopsided loss has a lot to do with the JVG system. He should take as much blame as the players for making what could've been an exciting match into a slaughter. It's no secret D'Antoni employs a European style offense where everyone has a chance at shooting the ball. Aided by the fact they have the best PG in the NBA running the offense, JVG should've made the adjustment before tip-off. Instead, he used the same offensive schemes and defensive strategy against a team that is pretty much immune to anything we throw at them. I usually blame it on the players if the game is close at the beginning and then slowly slipped away, like what happened to the Clippers two nights ago. But the game was already lost after tip-off. When you see something like this happening, it is automatically the coaches' fault. Doug Collins even said during the game that JVG should change the defensive strategy by asking our players to guard the perimeter rather than the lane. I'd rather see Nash make a fadeaway 2 than a Bell or Marion 3. Everyone noticed the poor showing of Yao today in the game. He was pretty much non-existent. His offense was taken away by the constant double and triple teaming of Phoenix. Granted, there is nothing much you can do against that. Everyone knows that in a JVG system, Yao usually gets the ball and then wait for the cutters to run inside before he makes his move. That works when you're facing single coverage, or when facing a double team, you're outside shooters are hitting their shots. In today's case, Yao should've made his move immediately after he gets the ball or just throw it out once the double team comes. If fact, we shouldn't even use cutters in this game. It just gives the defense even more time to adjust to our offense, which by the way, is insanely predictable!!! It's not the end of the world. We'll do better against top teams like Spurs, Nuggets, Heat, and even Pistons where we won't have too much of a matchup problem and Yao can become a factor again. But as long as JVG is our coach, under normal conditions, teams like the Suns and Mavs should give us plenty of headaches.
Yao and Tracy get to play with other good players and another good coach for the remainder of the week.
Positives? Another game to justify JVG's inability to coach in today's NBA. Another game closer to JVG getting the axe. Les, how does that contract extension you awarded JVG over the summer look now?
The loss remind me of the game the other night that Heat got beat badly by Dallas. Stay positive, guys. This forum is filled with so many fans that can't take any loss, not to mention a loss like last night.
1) No Rocket was injured. 2) Regardless of the margin, it only counts as one loss. 3) John Barry played and didn't look too rusty. 4) Suns are the only team in the league that present that many defensive mismatches.
Positive: By analyzing last night's game, we can learn exactly what we need to do to improve and contend. Negative: We need to improve everything.
