I want people to chew on this when discussing Brooks.

Season Age Tm Lg G GS MP FG FGA FG% 3P 3PA 3P% AST PTS
    1996-97 22 PHO NBA 65 2 684 74 175 .423 23 55 .418 2.1 3.3
    1997-98 23 PHO NBA 76 9 1664 268 584 .459 81 195 .415 5.5 7.9
    1998-99 24 DAL NBA 40 40 1269 114 314 .363 49 131 .374 4.9 8.6

Those are Steve Nash numbers his 1st 3 yrs. Nothing special coming from the playmaker deluxe, yet people want brooks to be there already.

no it's not. bench players play against the 2nd unit of the other team.

being a starter you play against the best of the other team. thus learning faster.

Could Aaron Brooks be distracted by his girlfriend or maybe boyfriend?

I'd much rather analysing plays than this kind of random comparisons. For every play that eventually becomes a Nash or a Billups, there are a ton of those don't make it. So, throwing out those won't convince anyone anything, AB and Nash has nothing in common. edit: If you want, state your case why do you think Brooks can be a Nash in the future, and by which year, in the meanwhile, what do you do with Yao and the company.

Thats true, but just like billups being traded as a rookie, teams get impatient when trying to develop young players. The win now mentality is what got the rox in this situation as it is. I'm not saying Brooks is going to be those guys, he might, might not, but this he has to be given this yr and even next. If adelman didn't think he was the type of guy he wanted, he wouldnt have hand picked the guy.

Agreed. These are Yao's best years. He should take it upon himself to win close games, rather than letting a sophomore practise throwing bricks at the underside of the backboard.

anyone can find the interview clip after a win, in which Brooks said something like "that's my way of playing and i will keep playing like this"...
his mind is like RUN SCORE PENETRATE SCORE pass(throw it out)

Even next? I hope you have some stay-young elixir for Yao Ming, or a plan to trade him for who.

I've said this before, the rox are trying to get players who will get better faster than yao's decline. The Spurs are what the rox are trying to emulate and it would be further along if we didn't go into "win now" after a lotto season. i think the rox are going to make some moves this summer, but i dont think its going to be for a pg. it might be more of a wing player.

    don't mental block yourself....
    1. as people have pointed out, not everybody can become nash/billups, tons of players had poor numbers at 1st 3yrs turned out to be ...trash. sorry, but if Brooks can't improve his playmaking ability or just become Iverson II, he will never reach the level of Nash/Billups.
    2. giving Brooks years to learn and pray he becomes Nash VS let him chill down or start another PG who is more suitable with YAO(still at peak), and Ron(might not re-sign after this season) and all those 30 years olds on this team. I don't know whether Rox has quitted the WIN NOW mode, if so, let's just rebuild around AB, how's that? :p

give him a break. he's a 2nd year player in the league and tonight he played against a former nba finals mvp.

it's so funny how much you guys expect from a young player in the league.

So I guess he's not as fast as Tony Parker, strong as Deron Williams, or as tall as...........anyone.

Sorry for pure success rate in the NBA, I am totally reay to give up on AB as a starter in this league.
