President George W. Bush throws out the first pitch during game three of the World Series game between the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Yankees at Yankee Stadium Oct. 3, 2001.

No sh*t! He had like a 99.9 % approval rating less than a month after 9/11/01! Let him try that crap today and he will get booed out of the stadium. Hell, I bet he could pitch a complete game for the Yankees and get booed at this point.

Apples and Oranges. Bush threw out the ball at Yankee Stadium three weeks after 9/11, before he pissed off our Allies and over half of the American public with his myopic foray into Iraq. If he threw out the ball at a game at Yankee Stadium these days, he'd need most of the NYPD there to protect him so the Yankee Stadium crowd wouldn't rip his lying ass to shreds.

Are you looking forward to the RNC Convention, T_J?

This has absolutely nothing to do with politics!

It's just that Yankee fans show a lot more class than those wannabe's in Boston!

    Always have, always will!

One neutral link with the wrong information. But it wasn't just that link. It was papers and news shows all over the country that ran with the story. Remember that's the 'liberal' press that ran with a false story. Then when papers started printing their retractions, and apologies for getting it wrong, the 'liberal' press took no note, and some news shows were still using it as a claim by Al Gore.

What is with this censorship, Mr. Forbes Kerry?

Al-Jazeera TV network is asked to remove sign

    PRESIDENTIAL RACE

When John Kerry glances around the convention hall in Boston this week, his eye will be drawn to brightly lit television network signs — ABC News, NBC, CNN, CBS, and banners for Hearst-Argyle and Belo.

Missing from the lineup is Al-Jazeera, the controversial Arab-language TV network that often is first to carry news involving al-Qaida and Osama bin Laden.

The Qatar-based network, which has 16 staff members assigned to the convention, was directed by convention officials to remove its sign. If it had remained, Al-Jazeera's sign would have been seen by millions of television fans looming over the shoulder of convention speakers.

Convention spokeswoman Peggy Wilhide said Al-Jazeera was not singled out and the concern was aesthetic. "Frankly, we're not providing a forum for companies to advertise," Wilhide said. "We're trying to create the kind of atmosphere we want to best present John Kerry and the Democratic Party."

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Al-Jazeera wasn't asked to leave the convention and they still have 16 reporters covering it.

    So um...

    How is this censorship?

Comcast cable co. also had their banner removed. IT wasn't just Al-Jazeera, but I think both companies should be allowed to display their banners.

Makes you wonder why any news outlet would get to display their signs. AJ will likely be at both conventions, yet you can understand the optics of not wanting their sign displayed behind your candidate.

Yet somehow...someone gets to decide who gets to display, and where they get to display. Seems like a lot of power and potential for conflict.

A prominent sign usually signifies endorsement (or sponsorship).

And I think Ronny 411 needs to be recognized for his outstanding work in this thread, perhaps memorialized in a digital image of sorts. Your Highness?

Come on now. Lets stay on topic & try to focus on John Forbes Kerry and his message that is supposedly going to become crystal clear this week. Here is the 411 on Kerry's new ad he is running in the key battleground states from ron411 (aka ron413):

Here's the great news. All John Kerry has to say is "I'm not George W. Bush" and he wins damn near half the electorate. You guys are having a great time trying to slam the Democratic nominee, will you be in such a good mood when we bring up Jr.'s record during the Republican campaign?

That is great news, I am about ready to raise another glass for John Forbes Kerry this week now that the elections results have been explained. Does he get half the electoral college votes in your theory or half the total votes? We know how that worked for Al "Be Sure" Gore in 2000. But hey, that appears to be a very sound strategy and good luck with that DNC.
