Does anyone else find that violent image a little creepy? Consistent with alleged abuse of power? I do. And folks, I'd say there's no way she's off the ticket before November 4. I'm starting to think they'll enjoy the free press and the re-energizing effect on the fringe too much.
Yes, it sounds odd... but look up the McCarthy hearings and specifically, Joseph Welch's famous lines. basso is making an effort to equate the two...
Are moderates and indepents who supported Mccain in the primaries turned off by Mccain turning more and more hardcore right? I wonder if he will lose more than he gain?
the palin pick, particularly over someone like lieberman, is a slap inthe face to mccain-leaning moderates/independents... i've been firmly in the obama camp for probably a month or so, but a pick of hutchinson for instance would've garnered some of my attention (a woman, from texas, conservative fiscal policy but not too far right on social policy) palin, however, clearly panders to the far right, and i -for one - am done with appeasing that crowd.
I think it fair to say that John McCain is the Neville Chamberlain of the "Centrist Wing" of the Republican Party. (I came very close to posting a similar image of Neville greeting that German fellow, as a joke, but restrained myself in the interest of... damn, don't know why I didn't, since I can't think of a good reason! Peace in our time in D&D, perhaps?)
John Stewart tore into those who were attacking dems for sexism about the Palin pick....particularly Karl Rove....even Newt Gringrich had a laugh about it and bit his tongue. Definitely should check that out. Also, Stewart made an interesting point. Palin said people should respect her daughter's decision to have the baby. That means it was her choice. But Palin supports a policy that even in the case of rape there should be no abortion. So John was like, ok, so when it comes to her family, we should respect her choice, but for our families, Palin wants the gov't to make the choice for us?
