The short answer is No. The Rockets have Bird rights to both Lowry and Scola and could exceed the salary cap to resign both with out touching the MLE.
If the Rockets want to trade up in the draft they have the potential to offer 3 possible lottery picks in consecutive years to do so thanks to the 2012 pick from NY and the right to swap picks with NY in 2011. If a team has a lot of holes and want to have the ability to fill that offer might seem pretty tempting.
I can see Morey getting involved in trade talks with who ever wins the Wall lottery because last year so many teams chose PGs and they still suck while the new lotto teams already have great PGs so I really think we will see a MAJOR draft day trade. My dream scenarios involve Wall going to Utah, New Orleans or Minnesota because they have established PGs, or invested in PGs, and might be willing to wheel and deal. What happens if the Hornets win the lottery and have Paul, Collison and Wall all at the point? Imagine the Wolves getting Wall when they already have Flynn and Rubio? My ultimate scenario is Utah getting the pick and then looking to move Williams. This offseason will be incredible starting with the draft and all the possibilities that could come of it.
There is no way we get the 11th pick....the last time i check...the most likely pick is 12th since we can't get worst than the New York Knicks (currently get the 11th pick).
we're 3 games ahead but becuz we need to catch them to have a worst record we're 3 games back in reverse
u lack discpline Walls game is better suited for the NBA rules and wide open style of play in college u have these lame zone defenses EVERY team runs and its dam impressive that Wall can still get off throughout the game and display that insane athleticism college defense is gimmicky and ALL athletes in college do better in the NBA thats why you hear commentators all the time say about great athletes is ''his game is better suited for the NBA level''
I have to agree with BimaThug here. A mere two draft slots in the teen's range is not worth engineering a loser's mentality for. Especially considering the increased lure of joining a "winning team" when it comes to adding veteran players during the summer.
The rockets need try to beat LA first, and lose the most of other games by playing Scola less min, that would be the result I would like to see.
Too many injures on this years, I do not think that the rockets can gain anything by winning one or two more games, I would take a chance for the picks.
hey what was our % chance of landing the #1 pick when Steve Francis wore his infamous purple suit to represent the Rockets in the Draft Lottery?
Easy, there, meh! Your post was completely devoid of any hint of sarcasm, especially given the fact that is was indistinguishable from the very posts you claim to be mocking. No smilies, man??? The very fact that there are so many posters talking about tanking makes it harder to read between the lines of your post. My response was not intended to be an insult. It was just a response to the general public regarding how tanking is counter-productive and would actually be injurious to the team's chances of adding free agents, much moreso than it would help in the draft.
