Now that it is a race to the bottom, who can we pass up on the way down? I say it is time to go for more lotto balls.

Sorry for the late response. Didn't know my thread got merged. Yeah, probably could've used some smilies.

For me, it's not so much the negatives as the fact that there ARE NO POSITIVES. If we were anywhere close to having a decent shot at Wall, I personally would advocate serious tanking. And by that I mean Scola and Martin all come down with "soreness" and "stay on the injured list as precautionary measures" type of a deal. It's really the fact that we're sitting the quagmire that is the "borderline playoff team" that there's basically no incentive either way.

Barkley wasn't in his prime then. He was 35 and clearly declining as a player, missing tons of games in previous years (14 the yr before and 29 the yr before that). He couldn't even shoot 50% any longer.

Not a scrub, but definately not in his prime. I don't see many players at their peak turning down $$.

When I started this thread I honestly thought the Rockets had decided to begin developing the younger players with little or no regard to winning. Oh how wrong I was. Adelman is clearly still trying to win every game and could care less about a couple of spots higher in the draft. Not that my opinion matters but after giving it some more thought I do agree.

We may lose out on a better draft spot but it is clear that the Rockets are developing chemistry. Players like Martin and Jeffries or becoming more comfortable in the offense. Hill, Budinger and even Taylor are getting valuable playing time. Brooks is solidifying his premier player status. Ariza is becoming more comfortable in his role. All around it is proving much better to use these last games as preseason games always trying to improve and always trying to win. I expect Morey to add at least one player that helps improve the team along with a healthy return of yao.

Yup, I don't see this team improving on defense at all over the season. Cause they have not shown a slight bit improvement over the first 7 games. Tankin' it is.

Man I don't even remember this. But now that I remember, yes I do still think I am right, Picking PPAT was not a bad pick, so our GM did make a good choice.

Might as well tank if we lose the next two games. We sit on the #1 spot i think for the lottery. How about Wilson Chandler he's been ballin lately. Every time i look at the yahoo sports page i notice he got about 3-4 blocks every night to go with 20+ points it seems in limited minutes.

Tank?! 7 games into the season?! Are you kidding me?

At least I know Herm agrees with me...

Someone should start an inverse magic number count. The number of Rockets losses + the number of wins by other teams to guarantee the most ping pong balls.

Seriously! Why the hell would we tank when we can just play normally and still be just as effective at losing?!

Sure you can say that. Then what was the point of giving me negative point on me saying Morey did not make a good choice?

why not tank for a superstar when we don't have one?

wait...let's try to sneak in the playoffs and get another early exit and be the same underachieving team we have always been for the past decade

    j/k :p

im still not there yet but we really need a superstar and the current superstars don't want to play for the rockets and the only way the rockets can get one is through the draft.

    food for thought.

If the Rockets are tanking this draft better have the next Jordan in it.

Start Hill, Increase Budinger minutes and Trade Yao and Battier for young pieces like picks. A contender would love to have a Battier or a Yao.

Well, if we are sneaking into the playoffs. That would mean our team was not expected to make the playoffs, much less get a win in a series. Therefore we would be overachieving. ;)

I'm pretty sick of everyone jumping off of the bandwagon. "oh no the ship is sinking!!!!!, it's the coaching, no it's Ab, Yao is done, I know I wanted Lowry to start but now he sucks, trade Jordan Hill, why wasn't Jordan Hill in the game!!!"

I can go on and on with BS comments from some of you on this board, but I won't, it's pathetic. Tanking? Selling everyone off? What a damn joke. It's 7 games into an 82 game season.

Do changes need to be made? Absolutely. What are these changes that need to be made? I don't know, but I do trust this coaching staff, to right this slowly sinking ship that I'm not jumping off of.

Let's look at what this team and the coaching staff have had to work with.

1-working Yao into the gameplan on a 24 min limit.
2-working Lee, Miller and Ish into the rotation, all new players
3-Back-up pg missing time with back spasms
4-Starting pg hurt missing min 4 weeks.
5-Yao getting hurt, who knows how long he's out.

I could list more issues but I won't. It's painfully obvious that the staff has there hands full. You guys act like they are doing nothing. You think these coaches are not working as hard as possible to figure this thing out? I think they are.

You think the orginization as a whole are happy with what's going on? No I'm sure they're not. But don't think for a second it can't be turned around, it can.
This staff will find what works and go with it, it's taking longer than we all want, but it "should" happen.

Yes there are leaks, but they should be able to be filled and most of you will do a 180 like always.

Now, if we get into game 50-60 and it's nowhere near being fixed, then look for a major overhaul. But right now barring a trade heavily in favor of the Rockets, I'm sticking with my team, I'm not jumping off of nothing. Your panic and lack of trust is freaking stale and sickens me.

    Mikol,

I agree with that, which is why I said they needed to shrink the rotation first, to get cohesion and then add in pieces going forward.

The way they are going about it, right now by playing different combination is screwing any chance of chemistry, or rather is delaying it quite a bit.
