It's not a waste of time cuz it's not gonna be a military dictatorship.

The Islamist will see to that, and the destruction of Israel, too.

Just wait until he raises their taxes and starts upping their credit card debt though.

Just be clear, I was mocking how basso and the rest of wingnuttia would bleat about Bush's freedom agenda every time some hot arab chick held up a finger. The Egyptian revolution belongs to the people of Egypt, not Obama, definitely not Bush, and absolutely not to the 101st Chairborn Brigade.

I have found Basso's relative silence during this historic moment notable. With Obama as president, the wingers really don't know how to respond.

If we didn't give foreign aid to Egypt would that money be spent on homeowners facing foreclosure?

I don't think foreign policy is necessarily equivalent to domestic policy.

Just saw the CNN report on Mubarak stepping down. AMAZING!

I honestly didn't think he would step down so soon.

I don't think you're asking the right question. Let me try:

In any case, calling payouts to Mubarak and his regime "foreign aid" is insulting to the term and, by most any objective standard, laughable.

I will point out the second of the last panel pointed out that no money was spent on aid to homeowners facing foreclosure while the rest of it was devoted to money to Egypt. What connection does foreclosures have to do with Egypt ?

That money could be but I doubt it would. THe government doesn't run a zero sum game and the interests when it comes to money spent on foreign aid versus domestic policy or any thing are very different. My own guess is if we didn't spend money on Egypt we would either spend on some other country or just not spend it rather than spend it on home foreclosures.

Right most of it is in the form of military aid but there is some element of foreign aid to it.

So soon? It took forever compared to Tunisia and Yemen. Mubarak clung to it as long as possible until the protesters got so angry, they because to head to his palace.
