Aaron Brooks has the speed and quickness to blow by anyone in the league. You add the two and that makes for the more help D which leads to open shots for other players. That fact, and the fact that Aaron has shown ability to finish around the basket consistently makes him my Rockets starting PG.

I just don't understand why everyone gets 'surprised' that Rafer sucks! He'll get a hot streak for a couple weeks or even a month and he's got some sweet rope a dope moves - but overall he sucks, always has and always will - end of story! Keeps runnin into trouble with the law, probably just to avoid being traded - cause who'd want him? I'm good givin AB the ball, I'm fine signing marbury for the min, I got no prob lettin TMAC bring the ball up and keepin him on the perimeter, I'd love us to trade for Hinrich (Rafer+battier?)... whatever gets rafer the heck off the court - period!

we need to ship out rafer, head, von wafer and dorsey if necessary. get back strawberry as our 2nd pg, get brooks or barry as starting pg until strawberry gets into the groove as our first pg and then put brooks back as our 2nd pg.

brooks is amazing coming off the bench igniting the offense with our 2nd unit. what we need with a starting pg is a big defensive minded player who can slash the lane and shoot the occasional outside shot. he should be able to guard the other teams SG since tmac still cant chase around the SGs. dj seems like the perfect fit. adelman needs to realize that and bring him back.

we then need to re-sign mutombo or get a 7ft pf/center like steven hunter. the rockets' plans of waiting until the last 3 mos of the season to bring back mutombo might be cheaper, but it may cost us yao ming. we need someone to back him up now or we will be forced to play yao 40+ mins a game and he's gonna get injured. by the time we re-sign mutombo, we try to trade the 7ft guy we get and trade him for some picks and cash to get below the LT.

Why give up Von when we took him over DJ?..... He isn't really great at handling the ball and does have good awareness for the open shooters. That along makes him subpar compared to AB but I would take him over Rafer Brickston.

I have yet to see this superior defense by Rafer...Rondo scored a bunch tonight.

Dont start Brooks. Replace Rafer. Even if it means using Brooks to do it.

It's time we try head. Brooks starts, Head backup. Rafer can't get any worse. If he is only there for passing, I'll take Barry, at least he can hit the 3s. He is not there for defense however, unless he can get back to last year's form, he is a liability in every possible caterogry.

The Rockets go as far as Rafer Alston takes them (assuming Steve never returns to 60% of his former self). Even if Brooks gets the start against some teams, he will not be in the game for more than 26 minutes. All Rafer has to do is shoot above 30% and the Rockets will win it all barring health.

    I second this idea.
Start Brooks or any other PG, over Alston.
It's unbelievable that they keep starting him and playing him all the time, even though he is by far the worst starting PG in the league.

I only wish the Rockets had an "average" PG. That's all we need, give us that and we have the best team no doubt.

But seriopusly, it is time to sit Alston, and permanently if it was up to me.

Play Brooks and Barry in the meantime and trade for a solid PG. We have plenty of assets. And the Rockets have been playing much better when Brooks is in. TMac is an excellent part time PG as well.

AB is good coming from the bench, for sure not the answer for starting PG, Morey needs to seriously seek to trade for a starting pg

You can say any PG is better than Rafer but not Marbury. Seriously, no Marbury.

I like him off the bench, I would just do it sooner and for longer stretches....

I'm not sure if our #1 priority should be our Starting PG or Backup C. I really want Rafer shipped out, however i think we can survive with him better than surviving without a real backup center.

If we had a backup C, things would have been diff with the celts. I mean, the missed shots from Rafer in 4-point game like that would definitely make a difference, but being able to have an anchor in the middle while Yao was out (which was like half of the game) would have been a bigger difference.

Exactly. Brooks and Barry have much too good a chemistry to break up that tandem.

Besides, our bench becomes a liability if Rafer comes off the bench. It would also mean more shot attempts for Rafer because he won't be in the game with Yao, T-Mac, and Artest. The less attempts for him the better.

Backup C and it's not even close. We have won many games with Rafer shooting horrid percentages. I don't even think Rafer had any impact(positive or negative) in this game. We were obviously missing someone who can intimidate shots and grab rebounds amongst the trees.
