I'm coming around to taking these 3: #3 - Paolo Banchero #17 - EJ Liddell #26 - Christian Koloko I want Yannick Nzosa as UDFA.
This has always been a top 4 star potential draft. Sharpe's presence hasn't changed it. I was initially thinking about trading Josh with the greatest reluctance because of lack of minutes for him and to select Duren at 7 in a package. I feel now there is no need to consider that. The 17th, 26th and Tate would be my final offer for Mark Williams 's rights. I admit I'm still reluctant to do this as well, since we need a big wing as well. Bringing back Fernando on a cheap 3 year contract and Garuba plus Sengun should be enough for our center spot. Silas needs to coach much better on defense. He should be more flexible too.
First of all, those drivers have hustle like crazy. And fresh out of the penitentiary? Have you seen The Longest Yard?
They are looking at what they will add to the team in the top 10 next draft and picking from that and a trade up probably this year. Those two players added to Paolo/Sengun/Green. And whoever else wants to show up and go along for the ride.
I'm really warming to the idea of Kennedy Chandler at 26 (if he's available I suppose?) There isn't a standout point in this draft, and as a result the overall stock has dropped for PGs Chandler is definitely size restricted for a guy who is just under 6'1, but I think he plays bigger with his 6'6 wingspan and 41.5" vertical. Great perimeter defending PG, so has the hustle. I really like Nix too - but wouldn't mind throwing these guy against each other to see who gets the minutes at the backup PG spot. We're in development mode anyway, why not take a shot on upside here? C in free agency Banchero at 3 Eason as the bench 3nD guy at 17 We get length with the first 2 picks, and potential at 26 (assuming we keep it)
Rockets should package the 17th and 26th picks in a trade to move up back into the lottery for either Jeremy Sochan, Jalen Duren, or Mark Williams.
For me 26th pick should be Dalen Terry. He is like a less heralded Dyson Daniels and will be a massive steal at 26. Pros: 6'6 with 7'0 wingspan, athletic beast, defensive mindset, pg skills Cons: 21 yrs old, shooting needs work He is a good complement to Banchero and Green cuz he can provide playmaking and defense while also scoring off the ball and playing off these 2. Along with Eason whom we should hopefully get we gonna have a long and lengthy 1-4.
Would not be upset if we got David Roddy. 6'6" 261 lbs and 6'11.5" wingspan. Built like an NFL TE. Averaged 19 ppg and 7.5 rpg on 57% FG and 43.8% from 3 on 3.4 3PA/G.
What is his best position? I think his lateral is a little bit too slow. Is he physical enough to guard the bigs?
I think he's a forward. He's a smart and efficient player. I think he's physical enough to guard bigger guys (although there aren't a lot of punishing PFs in the league anymore). I like guys who are great scorers around the basket and who play intelligently. I think he is both of those things. I will say that players like him usually don't succeed in the NBA, so he's ideally a 2nd rounder. But we don't have any 2nd rounders.
If (BIG IF) Jalen Duren finds himself in the 12-14 range - would you pull the trigger on a trade up for him? The scenario in this post is pretty awesome in itself. Liddell and Koloko could help mask some of those defensive lapses from Banchero early on. Koloko could be a 3 point threat at the NBA level judging by his combine performance in the shooting drills. Jalen Duren still intrigues the hell out of me. One of the younger guys built like an M1 Abrams. I wonder if his jump shot will ever get serviceable from 3, and also if he would be more of a defensive presence over guys like Kessler, Williams and Koloko. Im not sure Im buying all this "Centers going high in the draft" myself and we could realistically have a shot at any of those players in the early teens. All this making a big assumption into itself that Banchero can run as a big wing/forward. Alpi at the other forward and Duren as your "rim protector". KPJ Green Paolo Alpi Duren JST, Josh, NIx, KJM, Mathews, Garuba, Queen.
Hell yeah to Duren. Have no clue why everyone is so down on him dude's 2nd coming of Dwight. He is also the youngest player in the draft I have him top 5 in this draft. If he is there at 12 and obtainable Rox should go for it.
I need to put this future "I told you so" somewhere so here it is: Right now, the two best draft eligible international players in the world (Dieng and Jovic) are both slated to be taken outside the lottery. Not uncommon for American media to essentially force this error, still living in the past. To me, it is absurd to think that no international player will be a top 10 player in this draft. 99% of the time, that does not happen. So if these guys are going to be top 10 and they're available around 19-20 in most mock drafts, there's a huge opportunity with imo a very high ceiling. I feel like we need to make a play for one of these guys and if we snag one in the top 15 we will be very happy.
That would be a good haul! It's hard to imagine adding 4 more rookies without major trades to move some of our young guys and vets. I like Koloko at 26, maybe move 17 for a future first if we can't trade up?
If we stay pat perhaps we could add some length and defense. #17 - Tari Eason, Jalen Williams #26 - Marjon Beauchamp, Christian Koloko, Wendall Moore Jr.
I don’t think that lineup gives green any way to get to the paint. You would have to trade Sengun and have a 3 point shooter at the 3 to make it work.
