I've never dealt with Rooms To Go, but I have bought furniture from Haverty's. After my bed was delivered, I noticed the headboard had a long scratch in it. I called customer service up to complain, and they sent out a furniture refinisher the next day. They didn't give me any resistance at all. I can't even find the scratch now.
I bought an entertainment center from RTG once and there was a problem with the door. The delivery guy was trying to conivnice to sign the delivery ticket, and told me also that they're going to fix it. I'm glad I did not do it and told them to return the items. I got a full refund but it took weeks.
i just checked to see if there was a store for shanks in austin. it happens that the one store in austin is about 2 blocks from where i live. guess i have to go check it out. so how do you go about getting good deals on stuff there. is it just discontinued items and you get the floor models?
I had an issue with Rooms To Go, but it seems like small potatoes compared to y'alls stuff. My issue was not missing pieces or broken furniture it was with payment. My wife and I go into the store, and pick out what we want. We were shopping for new furniture because we were moving into a house in a week. We didn't have the address memorized yet, so the sales guy says it's ok to use the apt address we are currently living in. We went back to finalize everything and to actually purchase the items on presidents Day (No interest till 2013). We paid for delivery and the stain protection upfront and gave them the new address. They obviously needed it so they could deliver it to the right place. So we get it delivered; mother-in-law was at the house to make sure they didn't destroy anything and they apparently did a great job. A month and a half passes, no bill. I receive a phone call from a foreigner (I have no problems with foreigners, but if they are calling to figure out what's the problem, they need to speak better english) from GE Online - that's who we have to make our payments to. He tells me the address they have on file and said that's the old one. I updated the salesman with the new address and that they should have gotten. So that was the mistake and he fixed it and waived the late fee. Then I get another call about 3 weeks later from a lady foreigner with limited english asking me why am I late on payment. I told her that I still have not received a bill, so I don't know where to send the money and that I spoke to someone a few weeks ago who supposedly fixed the problem. We found out that when the guy fixed it and updated the address, he combined 2 words that should have been separate (Masi Loop is the street name, he did MasiLoop). So we got that fixed, she then tells me do you want to pay over the phone to get your first payment done, I said sure, she asks if I would pay the full 2,500 left on our balance. I told her are you kidding me, that's why I got the no interest payment plan. The end of the story is that we finally got the bill, but we have since setup online bill pay so this crap doesn't happen again. By the way, we got the dark brown sectional with ottoman and love it.
email VP / Director of Marketing & sales the link to this thread. More than 4 people so far have shown no interest of shopping at Rooms2Go now. I know for sure to avoid to shop there as well.. that makes 5.
Rooms to Go is the ****ing devil! Sure they got some nice affordable stuff, but I'm never shopping there again. About a year ago, we bought some living room furniture. On the day of the delivery, I took off from work and stayed home all day. The mother ****ers never showed up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I called the customer service number and they said they drivers came by and nobody was home to answer the bell so they left. Of course that is a complete lie! Told me it would take another 4 weeks to deliver now and would not cancel my ****ing order!!!!!!!!!! I was so pissed. Talked to numerous customer service agents and the store manager and they all had bad ****ing attitudes. I had no choice. Took a month to deliver the furniture. The delivery guys this time showed up. They were nice, and told me it would really hard to get the furniture I ordered upstairs to my second floor apt. But they did it. I told them about my scenario so far with Rooms to Go. The main delivery guy laughed and said that the driver who was originally suppose to deliver a month ago probably showed up, decided it would be hard to bring the sofas up to the second floor and probably just decided to leave instead and lie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hate them with a passion!!!!!!
I'm going to give them another week. If my stuff is not assembled, I'm going to load them into my truck and park near their store. I'll also make some huge placard to let the public know my experience. and probably contact a tv station? it's democracy in action.
If this is outside the Clear Lake store then let me know and I will try to join! I'm not kidding either.
I thinkin your case you could have called your credit card company if you paid by CC, to cancel the charge since you don't have the merchandise yet.
I had the no payment and no interest for two years and have yet to pay for the crap. I still have till Dec. Believe me I wish I had paid with a cc. I would have cancelled the order rite away.
I just bought a sofa and chair from Rooms To Go on May 25th... We picked the 31st for delivery since it was a Sunday and we would be home. They told us when we bought the stuff it would be delivered between 2pm-10pm on the 31st. They called the day before to confirm we would be there, and to my amazement...they knocked on the door at exactly 2pm. Set up and gone in about 15mins... I actually have no complaints other than my wife made me spend money on furniture. There goes my streak of 10 years of marriage WITHOUT ever having to buy jack. Oh i went to the Woodlands location. Sales guy's name...Darryl. Oh wait...i do have a complaint...It blows that anything you buy there has to be delivered (at your expense). The warehouse is in Dallas.
we had a similar bad experience with r2g. they took 4+ months to deliver, missing pieces etc. a week or so into that ordeal some yankee lady called trying to sell the extended warranty, I went off on her, they have never called back offering it. We probably won't ever buy from there again. We had a good experience with Haverty's since then, so I would definitely recommend them over r2g, plus it seems to be better quality. r2g seems kind of cheap but it was the wifes choice so I didn't care.
2pm to 10pm window? typo? they usually give only 4hr window. in my case they arrived on time on the first delivery but they're not careful in sending their merchandise. they don't check it if it's complete or right items. And no, their items are not really cheap.
Similar experience with a recliner my parents purchased for me. It was taking so long they ended up asking for a refund. It was ridiculous. Not to mention the couch they had bought at the same time(we picked it up), was a terrible couch. I would never buy from Rooms 2 Go.
The missing hardware arrived yesterday. Called them to get a sked for somebody to fix it but customer service was already closed. I decided to do it myself. My kid's bed is now standing but I was only able to use like 15% of the screws/bolts they sent me. I'm pretty sure all holes are covered. I assembled more complex furnitures before so I'm sure I got it right. Anyways, I got a bit of peace of mind now although I haven't seen any reimbursement for the delivery which the manager promised to give. Thank ya'll for your ears. The lesson still stands: Never ever accept incomplete or partial delivery again.
