Couldn't be any worse than Jones trying to guard those guys.

Harden only dominates the ball now when they are all out of ideas. Melo would be better at it. In the past Harden has shown he doesn't have to iso in order to score.

Harden's game is so much like Ginobili's...only he's so much more undisciplined. The truth is, that is a GREAT 3rd option...but not first. Dwight is a great 2nd option but not first either. If Harden can play a Ginobili like role, coming off the bench at times that would be amazing.

You may say this now, but you can't throw the reigns to a player that is so defensively challenged and sporadic when engaging against real time defenses. In his best performances, he has been playing a facilitator role, something he can do great as a 3rd option. The problem with this is...finding a first option is no easy task. Again, don't take the Ginobili comparison as an insult. He is their 3rd best player and if he were to go out SA would kiss chances of a championship goodbye.

    THIS SHOULD BE FUN.

Name ALL OF YOUR GREAT NBA 1ST OPTIONS TO LEAD A TEAM (THIS TEAM) TO A TITLE PLEASE.

And while doing this, do not bring up KD or LeBron James because they is BEYOND a pipe ****ing dream.

I feel dirty saying it as I don't like the guy...but Melo.

Still don't think it would make this team a contender though because of their defensive woes. Its also why I am so disappointed in the FO for keeping McHale here.

Melo played extremely well as the first option with Billups and got the WCF in 09'. Under a right system, good coach, he can flourish.

He's a team cancer and as a player he's a lesser SF version of Harden that plays even less defense and doesn't know how to pass the ball. Picking up Melo would make the Rockets worse.

However popular/unpopular an assessment maybe, doesn't make it any more correct/incorrect.

I got similar responses when I said the rockets would fizzle out of the 1st round a couple of months ago...when it was taboo to even think of such a thing back then.

Have you considered following soccer of curling instead of basketball?

He has a point. Melo iso ball is arguably among the best in the league, definitely better than Harden iso ball.

Melo can definitely be the top offensive option on a championship team, but best player? Probably not. Or not at least at a wide margin to the 2nd best and 3rd best players.

Harden can't do that. With that said, I still take Harden over Melo.

The last statistics I looked at showed Harden was one of the top 4-5 ISO players in the league... Actually ahead of Anthony.

I suppose you could view it that way. The only benefit we would get off of that is scoring advantages. Rather than getting another scorer, I think Morey needs to focus on balancing out our offense while also getting some defensive specialists. We need a stretch four and a playmaking point guard. I'd much rather spend $21M on Millsap and Rondo than $21M alone on Anthony. Granted Melo would be a fantastic acquisition, but in order to win a championship we need to make defensive plays and score efficiently. Balancing out our offense would allow our guys to have more energy on the defensive end..

I'm sure you can understand why insults coming from a guy that does full on body twists to justify that McHale is a great coach.. don't really phase me.

Harden is the third or fourth best offensive player in the league so what you're saying is that we need two of the following: Lebron, KD or Melo to win a championship.
