That was an old lease....dating back to the 60's. The new leases, in the face of franchise free agency, can't be broken. They're air-tight. You can find a way to pay enough to buy out...but good luck doing that when there's still like 16 years left on the lease.

    Say it ain't so Les.
Wished for more championships but still appreciate your tenure as owner. Especially the no tanking stand. This fan is sorry to see you go.

Possibly a correlation. The Rox are still more relevant than the Nets but overall Les is probably just tired and has no desire to be an owner in the NBA anymore. All the empty seats during the season and during the playoffs this year had to be disappointing for Alexander as well and perhaps his overall enthusiasm for owning the Rox is just not there anymore. Alexander was spoiled getting two championships in his first two years and I'm thinking he has just gotten tired of coming up empty over the past two decades and feels like the team is just not close and he going to cash in on selling the team and move on to other things.

The entire board should chip in and buy the team. All transactions and personnel votes handled by a thread on the forum .

This keeps bringing me back to what he said the other day, maybe not verbatim, but he said no one leaves houston by choice.

Meaning there is something behind this.

Bad news unfortunately, no way to spin it. He was the best owner in town by a long mile and who knows who comes in.

I wonder if Morey could get an ownership group (Nerds!) together and buy it. Would be the ultimate revenge of the nerds scenario.

Why at such an important time. We are on the verge of becoming a superteam. Couldn't he have waited till the season started?

I'll put $5k towards an ownership group.

If there are 399,999 other clutchfans willing to do the same, we can put forth a $2 Billion offer and potentially have it accepted!

I really, really like Les Alexander. Absolutely.

The Astros are the team that has come closest to a championship since 1995, and depending on this year, they may be again.

Les has done a great job putting us in the championship discussion

But we haven't won since 1995

This is why being curious or concerned is much more appropriate than freaking out or depression.

Count me in. Unfortunately judging by some post on here. We have quite a few that would have to ask mom or dad, and a few Portland fans that would get minority ownership as well.

    Choices choices.
