In the news, Blazers basically trade a TE they will get from NY trade for James Jones + #24. The Rockets can possibly get #24 + James Jones with Bob Sura + cash because the Suns try to dump James Jones contract.
Yeah, look at Portland's roster, they surely do well after only a couple of years out of playoffs. Utah is the same thing.
Isiah certainly is a better GM than the whole Rox front office, at least Isiah knows how to draft. He just has too much money to spend on the FA signing.
Amen - owner change needed. Not because he won't go over the luxury tax threshold - few owners will. Instead, because he is so cheap with the front office. He should have spent the money to hire a GM that wasn't a boy with no experience.
Les Alexander is no pauper! Yes Paul Allen is more affluent... but if Alexander opened up his wallet he could of done just the same as Allen. Last I checked there are still 32picks in the first round!
Exactly it's not like Les is just a multi-millionaire but hes a Billionaire... Worth around 1.2 Billion in fact. In fact if you put his 1.2 Billion in a bank and he doesn't touch it. It makes 72 Million dollars a year at 6% interest That is 72 Million if he doesn't earn anything else except just earn interest on 1.2 Billion lol wow ... How nice is it to be rich... 72 Million / Yr 12 Millinon / Monthly 1.38 Million / Weekly Help me out guys if my math is wrong So does Les have some Change hiding between his sofa seat to aquire some talent? Yup I think so....
You're assuming he has 1.2 billion in cash. He doesn't. Most of his money is tied up in investments... well actually the majority of his wealth is in First Marblehead from what I recall... at least around 50% his wealth is tied to it, I believe. If you notice how much it's gone up and down over the past couple of years, you'll understand how much his net worth actually fluctuates - for example, from Oct. 2005 to Jan. 2007 it went from $16/share to $55/share. He apparently owns over 15,000,000 shares. You do the math. http://finance.yahoo.com/q/mh?s=FMD
I don't. Late first round picks cost more, involve guaranteed contracts and probably don't pan out better than most second rounders. I love the idea of buying the late second rounders - it's cheap, it lets us take a shot on a number of foreigners, and only one of them has to work out to make it worthwhile.
As stated before its not like Les has 1.2 billion dollars sitting around. More importantly, give him some credit. At least he authorized buying two second round picks, including the first pick in the second round. Mark Cuban has more money then Les but he wasnt out there buying multiple first round picks. Also, Paul Allen is worth about 20 times what Les is worth so saying Les should have outbid him for the Suns pick isnt quite feasable.
We have a winner in the Spike Lee/Stephen A a-licking contest. Isaih's 'budget' (sic) and the best he's done is give Bulls two Lottos? If he came over to the Rox I might lose my long lust affair with our lads.
Les is a billionaire. He can afford to spend more but he doesn't. And with his revenue from China, he has more revenue than most teams. He should be spending more, at least top 5.
yao fan...you should be ashamed for applauding us losing game 7...when you love a player more than a team it stinks
If there was someone worth spending 3 million dollars for a pick at the near end of the first round i might agree. But in the NBA it's usually only the top handful that are guaranteed to be stars. Most of the draft is based on potential. Even if you do strike gold at the end of the 1st round, it still takes time to develop someone that's going that late in the draft. By the time they're polished, they might walk away for somewhere else like T-Mac did or go to where they can get the most money like Gilbert Arenas did. That would really stink and be embarrassing if you bought the pick and didn't get but maybe 1 good season from the guy. It's just risky buying picks at that price, IMO.
